Built about twenty years ago, El Gouna is unique in that it is a carefully-planned, complete town and tourist resort. The distinguishing features of a holiday in El Gouna are luxury (particularly if you stay at one of the better El Gouna resorts such as the five-star Sheraton Mirimar Resort or the five-star Stienburger Golf Resort), comfort and relative quiet. El Gouna is an attractive little town of traditional Nubian style low-rise villas and apartments, built on a chain of islands and lagoons. Beautifully-kept beaches and year-round sunshine make a holiday in El Gouna perfect for enjoying the delights of the Red Sea while avoiding the hectic pace of the more lively Egyptian Red Sea resorts. Holidays in El Gouna are perfect for families. The town has many attractions and activities which children can enjoy, such as the El Gouna Aquarium and Museum, a go-kart track, mini-golf, an air-conditioned indoor playground, pony rides at the local stables or outings to Zeitouna Beach (on an island), and diving and golfing lessons are available for all ages.

Because the sun shines all year round, El Gouna resorts receive visitors from the UK and Europe throughout the year.
