When you arrive in Naples you will be immediately struck by its beauty, the abundance of wildlife, the plentiful fish in the sea, and the outstanding year round climate. The sunny idyll gained its title from its comparisons to the stunning Naples peninsula so famed in Italy.

In many ways, Naples is certainly not your typical Floridian town. While Florida may pride itself on being the theme park capital of the world, packed with loud, boisterous, thrilling attractions; for those considering a Naples holiday, the city offers a very different view of Florida life. Naples affluence is prevalent from the very moment you set foot in the town. Prosperity is evident throughout the city, from the grand, immaculately manicured homes, to the variety and chic elegance of the shops, bars and restaurants that form part of this welcoming and friendly community. Of course, because of its exclusivity, outstanding location and natural resources, accommodation for the visitor in and around the Naples area tends to be a little more expensive than in other parts of Florida. That extra level of investment is worth it though if you wish to explore one of the jewels in the crown of the Sunshine State. What Naples offers to Florida’s millions of visitors is a change of pace. While many other resorts may be frantic, adrenaline-fuelled charges, Naples is very different. Operating at its own leisurely pace, the city’s inhabitants almost seem to want to live life more slowly, so that they can fully appreciate the abundance of beauty that surrounds them. This makes Naples the perfect destination for a relaxing holiday.

About Naples

Certainly, the best way to see the finest parts of Naples and the surrounding area (including the famed Everglades National Park) is by renting a car. The interstate system in Florida is highly efficient and the local roads are well signposted, so getting around is never a problem. A great deal of Naples’ attractions are located on the waterfront, and Florida’s simple road system makes travelling to and from these extremely easy. Naples is now becoming a market leader in south Florida tourism. The abundance of riches that so enchanted John Stuart Williams and Walter N Halderman when they discovered this haven are still very prominent in this refined and sophisticated part of Florida. Naples is the ideal holiday destination for those who are enchanted by the Sunshine State for many more reasons than simply theme parks. There are a great many Naples tours in the city that make for superb days out. There are companies offering guided excursions into the Everglades National Park, while those more interested in sea creatures can take a tour to see dolphins and manatees in their natural habitat.
One of the landmarks of the city is the Naples Pier. Situated on one of the most beautiful beaches on the Gulf Coast, there are plenty of attractions and those wishing to enjoy the fantastic fishing can do so from the pier. ‘Tin City’ is also another must-see attraction, formerly a collection of angler’s buildings; this is now a collection of shops that sell a wide range of locally produced items. Other sights to visit include Naples Zoo (at Caribbean Gardens), Vanderbilt Beach, Tiburon Golf Club and Clam Pass Park which boasts 35 acres of coastal habitat including a walkway through a mangrove swamp, leading to a beautiful beach. Naples enjoys a perfect year round climate. Summers are warm, but not as oppressively hot as other parts of Florida, as the cooling Gulf breezes keep the ambient temperatures down to a more tolerable level. In the winter, these breezes also keep the temperature up. Temperatures range throughout the year from 24 degrees C in winter to 33 degrees C in summer. With fishing being a major attraction for tourists, many fishermen may opt to go to Naples at specific times of the year, when it is the season to catch certain species of fish. April, for example, is the time of the great mackerel run which offers thrilling sport for novices and experts alike.
