About Washington DC

DC is a relatively easy town to get around and you will find that the preferred method of transport by many locals and tourists alike is by foot. Many of the city’s key attractions are located near each other, such as the museums and monuments found along the national mall. The city’s metro system is a much more convenient way to get around as the traffic in the city is infamously horrific. Washington DC is one of the most iconic cities in the world and you will be amazed with just how much this diverse and exciting city has to offer you on your holiday. It goes without saying that perhaps one of the biggest attractions in Washington DC is none other than the most historic icon of American architecture: the current home of the President of the United States, The White House. However, there are plenty of prominent attractions in this political hub. Make sure to include the Mall of Congress, the Washington Monument, the Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court somewhere in your itinerary, you will never have seen anything quite like them. Aside from a plethora of iconic political institutions filling the very heart of DC, you will find a wide variety of museums that can stimulate your mind. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is unlike any other in the region and there is a good chance that a visit to this harrowing institution will move you to tears. In order to balance out this emotional experience, you should make sure to check out the Museum of Natural History, the National Air and Space Museum, and the International Spy Museum, one of DC’s most popular museums for its flashy and over the top set up. Other top attractions that simply cannot be missed on your Washington DC holiday include the Washington National Cathedral, the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Smithsonian Art Museum, and much more. In terms of climate, the best time of year to visit Washington DC is during spring in April or May, or in the autumn months of September and October. While tourist season is the heaviest during the summer months, the temperature can become quite humid which isn’t exactly the most enjoyable climate to be in while you’re busy exploring a new place. While the weather is generally mild for the rest of the year, temperatures can become chilly in the winter with a very real chance of snow in Washington DC.
