EMIRATES PALACE

Abu Dhabi Holidays

Abu Dhabi is the capital of the UAE and is the largest of the seven emirates, covering almost 87% of its total area. Until little more than 50 years ago Abu Dhabi was a small fishing village, with barasti huts, a fort and coral buildings surrounded by empty desert. Now this beautiful, modern city features spectacular skyscrapers interspersed with vibrant parks and gardens. The sublime climate of Abu Dhabi is perfect for visitors wanting to explore a stunning array of attractions, with the cultural zone of Saadiyat Island a particular highlight.

Luxury Abu Dhabi Inspiration

When to go

For those wishing to explore Abu Dhabi and make the most of the outdoors, visiting during the cooler months of November to February is recommended. Temperatures in this period range between 10°C and 24°C, so while it is often pleasant and warm, visitors are advised to have jackets and boots as it can be quite breezy.

March, April and October are the best months to visit if you are looking to make the most of the beautiful beaches. Temperatures are often more than 30°C, perfect for sunbathing yet still comfortable.

The hottest months in Abu Dhabi are May through to August, with temperatures in this period often reaching 50°C. Combined with fairly humid conditions, while sunbathing is still popular, these months are ideal for taking advantage of Abu Dhabi's fantastic air conditioned shopping malls.

Ramadan 2014 is expected to begin in June and will finish in July.
Ramadan is an Islamic month of abstinence, and therefore it is illegal throughout the UAE for adults to eat, drink or smoke in public during daylight hours. Many hotels, however, have areas where non-fasters can eat so food services will remain available in these places. Adults are also expected to dress more modestly during this time, and tight or revealing clothing should be avoided in public.

What to see

Abu Dhabi is a spectacular modern city that offers visitors a diverse array of attractions, with stunning architecture in the form of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and spectacular sporting venues such as the Yas Marina Circuit and numerous world class golf courses.

Cultural attractions in Abu Dhabi include the Emirates Palace, with large public areas and landscaped gardens. There is also the Heritage Village which offers visitors an insight into the traditions and lifestyles of the Bedouin and other cultures.

There are many attractions in Abu Dhabi that are perfect for families.
