Chongwe River House

Chongwe River House is an unusual hotel that embraces the calming effect of nature. Its rooms are designed like branches, the ceiling adorned with colourful pebbles sourced from the river and the main room has a tinkling water feature and incredible views over the mountains and river. There’s no wall to the front of this room so it opens directly onto a large deck. The dining room table, bar, coffee table and couches have all been intricately carved from a single winterthorn tree. Guests can look forward to exciting game viewing within 4,000 square kilometres of South Luangwa National Park and there are private vehicles, boats, canoes and walking safari guides at your disposal. The kids can join the chef in baking delicious lion paw-print cookies while you spend your afternoons on the deck and enjoy fantastic game viewing with elephants at the watering hole that’s as good as any game drive.
