Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival into Siem Reap

Arrival into Siem Reap

Upon your arrival in Siem Reap, your guide will welcome you at the airport and then transfer to your hotel for check in. The rest of the afternoon is free time to relax and settle into your hotel.

Day 2: Guided tour of Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat - Ta Prohm

Meet your guide this morning to head off to the marvellous temple of Angkor Wat, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is one of the most astonishing monuments ever created by mankind, erected in the 12th century in honour of Vishnu. Transfer by private vehicle (or possibly by cow carts) to a remote temple where your private picnic lunch will be waiting. After lunch, relax under the trees with a soothing foot massage before starting your afternoon activities. 

In the afternoon, visit the ancient Ta Prohm monastery where immense branches have taken root in the stones. Beyond this impressive vegetation you will find splendid sculptured Devatas and a unique atmosphere completely befitting this temple and those built during the reign of Jayavarman VII. Back to the hotel for a free evening. Dinner on your own account.

Day 3: Guided tour of the Angkor temples

Banteay Srei - East Mebon - Pre Rup - Angkor Thom

Depart for Banteay Srei where one of the most impressive jewels of Khmer art exists. Built in the 10th century, this small pink sandstone temple is known as the Citadel of Women. Return to Angkor Park area and visit Mebon Oriental temple, the 10th century Pre Rup temple and Srah Srang, also referred to as ‘The Baths’.

In the afternoon, visit the Great City of Angkor Thom. Dedicated to Buddhism, Bayon consists of 54 gigantic towers with 216 smiling faces of Avalokitesvara. Aftrewards, cross to the Elephant Terrace used as a giant stand for public ceremonies that once served as a base for the king’s grand audience hall. See the raised terrace of the Leper King with its beautifully sculptured Apsara statues and journey through the countryside to Chandara Villa for a romantic walk, cocktail and fine dining dinner surrounded by lush rice paddies.

Day 4: Tonle Sap Lake cruise

The Great Lake: Tonle Sap

In the morning, transfer to the pier at Chong Khneas where you will board your boat for a cruise on the Tonle Sap Lake. You will have a chance to experience the floating villages and their hospitable communities complete with snacks and a glass of champagne. Return to your hotel in Siem Reap in the afternoon and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Picnic lunch on boat. Dinner on your own account.

Day 5: Phnom Penh

Siem Reap - Phnom Penh

Spend the morning at leisure relaxing by the hotel pool or exploring the Old Centre Market before your transfer to the airport for a brief flight to Phnom Penh where you will be warmly welcomed by your local guide and transferred to your hotel for check in. In the afternoon, discover the city with a "Khmer Architechture Tour" by cyclo. Explore central Phnom Penh with it's colonial buildings, as well as modern post-independence architecture. After a short historical presentation by your tour guide, you will discover the district around the Post Office, then head for the Central Market area, passing some well-known buildings as well as some less obvious examples of religious architecture. Return to your hotel and relax for the evening.

Day 6: Guided tour of Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh

Enjoy a city tour of Phnom Penh visiting the Royal Palace built in 1866 by King Norodom. Here you’ll find the Silver Pagoda whose key works include a golden Buddha encrusted with 9,584 diamonds and weighing 90 kgs, and a Buddha featuring emeralds and Baccarat crystal dating back to the 17th century. 

Afterwards travel south to learn about the darkest period of Cambodia’s history: the regime of the Khmer Rouge. Visit the genocide museum of Tuol Sleng, an old secondary school which was transformed into a detention centre under the Khmer Rouge. After lunch, you will visit places like the French Quarter, hidden temples and monuments, vibrant markets, architectural highlights and cultural institutes with private short movie screenings. In the evening, have dinner at Chinese House Restaurant.

Day 7: Travel to Song Saa Private Island

Phnom Penh - Sihanoukville

Drive along a beautiful road to Sihanoukville, a seaside resort 230 km away from Phnom Penh, travelling through villages, markets and pineapple fields. On arrival at Sihanoukville, transfer by speedboat to the unique Song Saa Private Island. Then enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, enjoying the facilities of the resort or beach. Lunch on your own account and dinner at the resort.

Day 8 -9: Relax at Song Saa Private Island

Day 10: Travel to Phnom Penh
