Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival into Bangkok

Arrive into Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport where you’ll be met by a representative and transferred to your hotel for the next three nights, Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa. Check in to your Junior Premium Suite complete with private balcony, lounge area and LCD TV with DVD player to keep little ones entertained when in-suite. The rest of the day is free to spend as you wish, either relaxing in the hotel or exploring the city.

Please note – the Junior Premium Suite features one king or two double beds to be shared by two parents and one child; an additional bed can be provided for a second child.

Day 2

Full Day Bangkok

This morning embark on a half day tour of Bangkok’s Thonburi canals, learning of their importance in the city’s history and earning it the nickname, ‘Venice of the East’. Travel down the Chao Phraya River, stopping at Wat Arun (the Temple of Dawn) and the Royal Barges Museum.

In the evening climb aboard Bangkok’s most famous mode of transport – a tuk tuk. Travel through the city on a private tour, discovering a different side of the Thai capital. Pass temples basked in moonlight, stop off at the city’s flower market and eat authentic Thai food at one of the many street food stalls.

Day 3

Bangkok – Day at Leisure

The full day is free to spend as you wish either making use of the excellent facilities at your luxury, waterfront hotel or soaking up the sights of Bangkok. Cool off in the outdoor swimming pool, challenge the family to a game of tennis at the on-site courts or have kids entertained at the Chang Noi Kids’ Club while parents relax at the Anantara Spa.

Heading out to explore? Tour the city’s most famed attraction, the impressive Grand Palace with its temples, statues and murals, go shopping at Siam Square or visit the 200 year old Wat Pho temple, known for its 46 metre long golden Reclining Buddha.

Day 4

Bangkok – Kanchanaburi

Following breakfast and check out be collected from your hotel for your departure to Kanchanaburi. On the way you’ll have the chance to learn about some of Thailand’s history with visits to a World War Two cemetery and museum and a stop at the famous bridge over the River Kwai. After lunch at a local restaurant carry on with your journey to the Hellfire Pass Memorial before arriving to your hotel in Kanchanaburi.

Day 5

Kanchanaburi

Start the day with a train ride from Tha Kilaen along the historic Death Railway, passing over the original wooden viaduct constructed by prisoners of war. After lunch be driven to Erawan National Park where you’ll trek along nature trails before ending at a series of waterfalls. You’ll have the chance to swim in the emerald-coloured pools before returning to Kanchanaburi.

Day 6

Kanchanaburi – Chiang Mai

Head back to Bangkok in time for your internal flight to Chiang Mai, where you’ll be met and transferred to the Anantara Chiang Mai. Spend time settling into your Kasara Suite before a guided evening tour of the culinary delights of the city. Sample traditional cuisine including local snacks and Khao Sai, a coconut curry noodle dish unique to Chiang Mai. After your tour concludes, we recommend heading to the night market to barter for souvenirs.

Day 7

Full Day Chiang Mai

Over a half day tour, explore the culture and lifestyle of the Baan Tong Luang hill tribes. You’ll meet people from the Long-Neck Karen tribe, whose female members wear brass rings around the necks to create an elongated appearance and the Palong village where the woman adorn their waists with distinctive rattan rings. You’ll also visit a Karen hill tribe village and witness how the villagers conduct their daily life, making a living from the land, tourism and handicrafts. On your return journey to the hotel, stop off at one of the area’s orchid farms to see these exquisite blooms.

Day 8

Chiang Mai – Day at Leisure

Find yourself free to explore the sights of Chiang Mai. Take the time to visit one of the many temples, including Wat Phra That Doi Suthep that sits atop the Doi Suthep mountain overlooking the city. A visit to Wat Chedi Luang or Wat Suan Dok offers the chance to speak with a Buddhist monk about their lifestyle and beliefs. Or head to the Chiang Mai Zoo where two of China’s ‘cultural ambassadors’ (pandas) live.

Day 9

Chiang Mai – Elephant Hills Khao Sok

Check out of your hotel in time for a (recommended) early morning flight to Phuket. You’ll be collected at the airport and transferred to Elephant Hills Khao Sok. Here, you’ll have an activity-packed day with the chance to feed and wash Asian elephants and canoe down the Sok River. Evening entertainment includes a movie presentation, dance performances and cooking demonstrations.

Day 10

Full Day Elephant Hills Khao Sok

Wake to the sound of bird song and gibbon calls while drinking fresh tea and coffee. Today’s activity is a long-tail boat ride on the manmade Cheow Lan Lake, surrounded by limestone cliffs. Glide along the emerald waters, stop for lunch at the raft house and take a refreshing dip – don’t forget to bring your swimwear! Return to Elephant Hills for dinner and evening entertainment.

Day 11

Elephant Hills Khao Sok – Krabi

On your last morning at Elephant Hills head into the jungle on foot. Explore one of the oldest rainforests fill of exotic plants and animal species including hornbills, gibbons, plus macaque and leaf monkeys. Depending on the weather, you may have the opportunity to have lunch in the rainforest, cooked in bamboo! Return to the camp for a chance to freshen up before being collected and transferred to your hotel in Krabi, the Rayavadee.

Day 12

Krabi – Day at Leisure

After a few action-packed days, the boutique Rayavadee is the ideal place to rest, relax and unwind. Your Two Bedroom Family Pavilion features a terrace with sun loungers and outdoor dining area where you can spot spectacled langurs and macaque monkeys! Surrounded by three white sand beaches and bordering Krabi Marine National Park, you have access to an excellent watersports centre for sea canoeing, snorkelling and windsurfing. End the evening dining on authentic Thai cuisine at the beachfront Krau Phranang restaurant.

Day 13

Krabi – Day at Leisure

Enjoy a full day to spend doing as much or as little as you like. Hang around the resort where you can swim in the infinity pool overlooking the sea or learn how to whip up your own delectable dishes on a Thai cooking class. Dine at The Grotto, where seafood barbeques are held, or arrange to have the little ones looked after by a professional babysitter (additional fees apply and 48 hours’ notice required) so parents can indulge in a romantic private dining experience.

Day 14

Krabi – Day at Leisure

On your last day in Krabi, take advantage of Rayavdee’s location for an exciting excursion. Head to the famously laid-back Phi Phi Islands for fantastic snorkelling and diving, pick up trinkets at one of the stores in bustling Krabi Town or kayak through the Ta Lane mangrove forests. As the resort is surrounded by limestone cliffs, beaches and a marine park, the only way in or out is by boat – so speak to one of our Asia travel specialists to plan your excursion in advance.

Departure

Following a final breakfast, check out of your pavilion and transfer to Krabi in time for your return flight back to the UK.
