Itinerary

Day 1

Bangkok

Upon arrival at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, you will be met by a representative and transferred to your hotel in Bangkok where you will spend the next three nights. Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure, relaxing around the hotel swimming pool or taking advantage of the hotel's complimentary area shuttle service to explore the city.

Day 2

Bangkok

After breakfast, depart for the famous Damnoen Saduak Floating Market where you can witness the lively traders paddle their wares over to the shoppers along the canal bank. Enjoy a short longtail boat ride through the canals before visiting the Grand Palace. This incredible attraction consists of the Funeral Palace, the Reception Palace, the Throne Hall, the Coronation Hall, the Royal Guest House and the Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaew) - one of the most revered objects in Thailand.

Day 3

Bangkok

Enjoy the day at leisure to explore the sights of Bangkok. The BTS Skytrain Station at Ploenchit is a 10 minute walk away and the hotel offers a complimentary area shuttle service so getting around the city couldn't be easier. Explore the temples filled with Buddha statues located close to the riverbank and discover why this ever-bustling city has been nicknamed the "Venice of the East".

Day 4

Bangkok - Uthai Thani - Sukhothai

It's an early start this morning, driving out of the cityscape and into the heart of rural Thailand. Uthai Thani is a small riverside town on the edge of the Sakaekrang River and as it is not often frequented by tourists, it offers a snapshot of the real Thailand. Visit a local morning market along the river bank and discover Wat Chantaram - a temple with a stunning crystal hall and a golden shrine. Afterwards, board the Rice Barge and cruise along the river for a view of Thai local life. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to explore the town of Sukhothai, believed to be the birthplace of Thai culture.

Day 5

Sukhothai - Phayao - Chiang Rai

After breakfast, drive to the Sukhothai Historical Park to explore these fascinating ruins and Buddha statues and to visit Sri Satchanalai Historical - Sukhothai's sister city. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before driving to the small town of Phayao in the afternoon for drinks beside the lake. Arrive in Chiang Rai in the late afternoon.

Day 6

Chiang Rai

Get up early for a drive through the stunning mountain roads to Doi Tung, the highest peak on the Thai-Burmese border - and a chance to visit both the Lahu and Akha hill tribe villages. Discover the beauty of the Mae Fah Luang Gardens and the Royal Villa. Climb back into the air-conditioned vehicle for your trip to the Golden Triangle.

Day 7

Chiang Rai

Day 8

Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai

After breakfast, head to Chiang Mai, stopping along the way to see the incredible Wat Rong Khun (White Temple). Have lunch at a local restaurant and travel along the winding mountain road of Doi Suthep to visit the 600 year old Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple. Do you dare to climb the 306 steps to the top to see a copper-plated chedi topped with a five-tier gold umbrella that contains partial relics of the Lord Buddha? The views over the city of Chiang Mai are absolutely stunning.

Day 9

Chiang Mai

Enjoy a half day excursion and join the Elephant Care programme at the Thai Elephant Care Centre. Learn how to recognise an elderly elephant and how to care for them, from learning how to make grinded grass to feed them and how to make herb balls. Visit the elephant cemetery and area of resting before bathing with the elephants and feeding them from a basket of bananas.

Day 10

Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai - Bangkok
