Delve into Southern Vietnam to discover Ho Chi Minh City and the famous Cu Chi tunnels before continuing along the Mekong River. You'll explore the colourful floating markets and visit small local villages along the river to get an understanding of local life. For a truly unique experience, you'll travel by private sampan staying overnight on the river itself. Next, it's off to beautiful Phu Quoc Island for a few days or R&R at your beachfront resort. Enjoy snorkelling or explore the national forest teeming with bird life. Once in Cambodia, highlights include visiting Siem Reap with its fabulous temples, explore the magnificent Angkor Wat and Ta Prom sites to end the trip on a high note.

Day 1: Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City

Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City

You'll be met by your local guide on arrival at Tan Son Nhat Airport on arrival. Transfer to the city for hotel check in and you are free to relax or explore fort the rest of the day.

Day 2: Cu Chi Tunnels and Hi Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City Sightseeing and Cu Chi Tunnels

After breakfast you'll meet your guide and will leave the city by private vehicle to visit the amazing tunnel network of Cu Chi. This incredible system, covering almost 250km in length was shelter to over 16,000 Vietcong guerrillas during the wars. If you are interested (and game) you can even descend into the tunnels to learn more about the harsh conditions faced by Vietcong guerrillas who lived there. In the afternoon set out on a tour of the former capital of French Indochina. Historic landmarks include the Old Saigon post office, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Opera House. Continue your tour by visiting the Reunification Palace which was used as the headquarters of the Saigon Government during the American war in the 60s. After that visit the ethnic, Chinese district of Cholon and try your haggling skills at Binh Tay market.

Day 3: Mekong Delta

Mekong Delta and Cai Be

After breakfast, depart from Ho Chi Minh City to explore Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta. You'll board your boat at Phong Nam brick kiln, where bricks are still painstakingly made by hand. Cruise along the Chet Say river (a branch of the Mekong) stopping at various local workplaces to give you a picture of how the local economy works, including a coconut processing workshop where you can sample fresh coconut and see how every single part of this versatile nut is turned into food and other products. Later, the boat will cruise through the small canals where you can discover local life on the delta including a stop at a quiet village. Here you can visit a mat weaving house, where straw mats are woven using a hand loom – you can even have a go at weaving yourself. Next, board your xe loi (a kind of motorised rickshaw) or bicycle into the village where you'll stop at a local house for a delicious lunch of local specialities such as elephant-ear fish and river shrimp. In the afternoon, board a sampan for a relaxing trip along the narrow canals before arriving at your resort in Cai Be where you'll check in for the evening.

Day 4: Mekong Delta by Sampan

Mekong Delta by Sampan

After breakfast transfer to Cai Be pier to board your private sampan and meet your crew. Cruise along the river stopping at local businesses before heading to the famous Cai Be colourful floating market where you'll cruise among local barges full of fruits and vegetables. Next, you sampan will cruise upstream on the Tien Giang River, one of the two large arms of the Mekong. These evergreen islands among the Mekong River form a large networks of meandering rivers and remain unknown to many people. Disembark to take a small local rowing boat for a cruise along a narrow canal passing by a local village and fruit plantations. Sa Dec town will appear like a little “Venice” with numerous narrow canals. Here, disembark at the local marketplace for a guided visit of this charming town, walking along its narrow streets to witness beautiful French old houses and Chinese temples dating from the last century. Visit at an ancient house dating from 1890, home of Ong. Huyen Thuy Le, the “Lover” of Marguerite Duras famous novelist. Back on board your sampan, your lunch will be served while cruising down to Can Tho passing under several wooden “monkey bridges”. Before sunset, your last stop will be at a splendid ancient house or “Nha Co” dating from the early 19th century. Greeted by the owners, enjoy a romantic candlelight dinner: an unforgettable experience in a unique atmosphere. After dinner cruise for another hour to Can Tho where you will moor for the night in a quiet place. Your bed will be ready for your first night on the Mekong river.

Day 5: Mekong Delta to Phu Quoc

Mekong Delta to Phu Quoc

As the sunrises your sampan will start cruising and breakfast will be served on board at about 7.00am before reaching Cai Rang floating market, actually the largest in the whole Mekong delta. Pass by countless sampan boats carrying sand, rice, fruits and vegetables, fish, flowers. Your cruise journey will end at around 10am at Ninh Kieu pier after a visit at Can Tho local market. As you deisembark, take a private transfer to Can Tho Airport for your flight to Phu Quoc. On arrival Phu Quoc Airport, transfer by hotel shuttle bus to your beach front hotel.

Day 6 - 7: Phu Quoc Island Beach Break

Phu Quoc Island

Relax, unwind and enjoy the your beautiful beachfront location for a couple of days. Phu Quoc is a natural wonderland with protected forests to explore where you can spot rare langurs or macaques. The island is a producer of some of the worlds finest peppers and you can visit some of the local farmers or if you're more into relaxation, enjoy the award winning spa facilities are your resort.

Day 8: Phu Quoc Island to Siem Reap

Phu Quoc Island to Siem Reap

Enjoy breakfast and a leisurely morning by the beach until being transferred to the airport for a flight back to Ho Chi Minh City where you will connect for your next flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, you'll be met and transferred to your hotel for check in.

Day 9: Angkor Wat - Banteay Sreay - Ta Prohm

Angkor Wat - Banteay Sreay - Ta Prohm

Your day starts with a visit to Angkor Wat, a world heritage site with soaring towers and extraordinary bas reliefs. It is one of the most amazing man-made monuments in the world, erected in the 12th century in honour of Vishnu. In the afternoon, leave for Banteay Srei where a most impressive jewel of Khmer art exists. Erected in the 10th century, this small pink sandstone temple is known as the Citadel of Women. On the way back, visit the ancient Ta Prohm Monastery where immense branches have taken root in the stones – hence the nickname of the Jungle Temple. You will find some splendid sculptured Devatas and an atmosphere that is unique.

- A short stop is necessary to organise your Angkor entry tickets (a photo is required and is taken free of charge on site). 
- Lunch is not included but your guide will be happy to take you back downtown for lunch or if you prefer, you can have lunch at the Angkor site among the temples. Please discuss with your local tour guide.

Day 10: Siem Reap

Siem Reap

After a busy day seeing the temples, today is free to relax at your resort or, if you're feeling active you can arrange additional activities. There are no shortage of options, Siem Reap is great to explore on foot with a busy market and great cafes and restaurants. Or, head out of the city and take an excursion by boat on Tonle Sap lake to visit the floating villages or head back to Angkor to see more temples at the site.

Day 11: Depart

Depart Siem Reap

Spend the day at your leisure until being transferred to the airport for your flight.
