Bali Holidays
Travel Guide
Bali is one of the 33 islands that make up the Republic of Indonesia (the world's largest archipelagic country) Located between Java and Lombok, 8 to 9 degrees south of the equator, Bali is home to over 3 million people. Framed by the Java Sea along the north coast and the Indian Ocean along the south, it is split into 9 regencies with the capital city Denpasar. A chain of mountains run through the middle of Bali, with some volcanic peaks still active such as Mount Agung. The northern side of the mountain range is quite sheer so the lowland is narrower, but on the southern side the land is leaner creating a lush plain which is the very heartbeat of Bali's culture. The lush valleys and hills are carved into terraces, some of them dating back a thousand years, home to Bali's sparkling rice fields.

Visitors to Bali come in every shape and size, from young backpackers to families to, probably most typically, couples with a romantic getaway in mind, for whom Bali Deals seem heaven-sent.

Ubud
Bali's cultural hub for arts and crafts. The landscape is filled with verdant terraced rice paddy fields, carved into the hills hundreds of years ago. You will find many Hindu temples and ceremonies taking place. Silversmiths, stone and woodcarving centres are abundant in this area. Dance performances are held regularly and there are many art musuems in the area to visit.

Sanur
The calm waters off the long white beach are ideal for families with little children. Good base to explore surrounding areas. Also popular area for watersports.

Kuta
Bali's party hot spot with many bars and clubs found here. Lots of restaurants and bars off the main streets are worth visiting with many stylish eateries emerging in the area. Plenty of market stalls, aimed at tourists, are filled with colourful beach wear and souvenirs. Watching the sunset on Kuta Beach is an relaxing start to a lively evening in Kuta.

Beaches
The beaches in the south of Bali are white and sandy and more popular than the volcanic black sand around other sides of the island.

Some of the most popular include:

Seminyak - Great for surfing.
Sanur - Its calm waters are ideal for families
Jimbaran Bay - Picture perfect sunsets
Candidasa - On the east coast, great for snorkelling and diving
