Barbados Holidays
The beautiful coral island of Barbados has an interesting combination of rolling hills, gorgeous beaches, rocky shores and deep gullies and ridges, as well as an array of underground lakes, caves and other geological formation unique to the island. The pleasant, mild tropical climate is tempered by the constant breeze of trade winds and this, combined with interesting fauna, flora and the natural charm of its inhabitants, make Barbados a destination many holidaymakers will return to time after time.

Beaches
The beaches on the west coast of Barbados – Batts Rock, Brandons, Brownes, Colony Club, Gibbes, Heywoods and Mullins, to name a few – feature palm-fringed sandy shores and azure waters. These beaches are perfect for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, jet-skiing and catamaran cruising. Those on the island’s south coast, however – such as Bottom, Carlisle, Foul and St. Lawrence Bays, Crane, Dover and Golden Sands – all feature coral-reef-protected, flawless shores and a more lively surf perfect for boogie boarding, wind and kite surfing. The wide, wind-blown beaches on the east coast regularly delight surfers from around the world and include Ragged Point, Bathsheba, Bath and Cattlewash. The northern coast, on the other hand, mostly consists of sandstone and coral cliffs rising up a hundred feet or so out of the sea. The few sheltered coves, which are great for relaxation, include Animal Flower Cave, River, Little and Cove Bays. Swimming is generally not recommended here however, due to strong currents.

View points
Natural beauty spots worth visiting during a Barbados holiday include Harrison's Cave, which features streams, cascades, thundering waterfalls and deep pools, as well as Andromeda Botanical Gardens. Errol Barrow Park, Barclays Park and Grenade Hall Forest (complete with signal station) are other horticultural treats. Lazaretto Gardens, Chancery Lane Swamp, Barbados Wildlife Reserve are also worth a visit. The most spectacular views on Barbados can be seen from view points like the Animal Flower Cave, the Chalky Mount Potteries, Cove Bay, Gun Hill Lion and Signal Station, Farley Hill, Ragged Point, Hastings Rocks or the Bathsheba Community Centre. The cliffs overlooking the small fishing community at Skeetes Bay also offer particularly dramatic views and are a great place for a walk.

Places of Interest
The rich history and culture of Barbados is well documented in a range of museums and through many historical sites, including the Sunbury Plantation House, the National Heroes Gallery, George Washington House and the Museum of Parliament. Other interesting sites include the Tyrol Cot Heritage Village, Arlington House Museum and Hutson Sugar Museum. Experienced scuba divers will enjoy exploring the artificial reef on and around the wreck of the Stavronikita, at Folkestone Marine Park. The boat was deliberately sunk to create the reef and it now lies at a depth of 120 feet (37 m), half a mile from the shore. Other attractions on the island include the Signal Station at Cotton Tower, the Fisherpond Plantation House, Heron Bay, Ilaro Court, Holetown, the Garrison Savannah Main Guard House Oistins and Morgan Lewis Mill. Whether your main interest is the wonders of nature on land or in the ocean, watersports, or culture and history, there will be something available to make your Barbados holiday truly memorable.
