Holidays to Jamaica

Luxury Jamaica holidays offer a wealth of fun activities as well as gorgeous beaches for relaxation.

Lush yet rugged, diverse yet unique, Jamaica is an island of contrasts. Kingston, on the southern coast, is the island country's capital and most populated city. Bob Marley is a way of life here; from the beat of his songs to his house - now a museum - you'll feel the echoes of his presence everywhere. Montego Bay on the north coast is much more relaxed, with golf courses and luxury resorts. Smaller towns such as Negril, Runaway Bay, Ocho Rios and Four Paths give visitors a chance to see the "real" Jamaica and interact with the locals. Within a few minutes, you'll be feeling "All Right" as the saying goes, especially in Negril, which is famous for its nightlife. On holidays to Jamaica, photographers will love Port Antonio, famous for beautiful landscapes. Snorkel in one of the south coast's four bays and see hundreds of species of fish.

Travel Tips & Advice for Jamaica

Jamaica Activities

Adventure-seekers can climb the Blue Mountains, raft the White River, shoot down a zip line, or ride horses along the beach. Explore the Green Grotto Caves, dive or snorkel, or splash around at one of the island's water parks. Nature and wildlife tours are also available. Those who want a more laidback holiday can soak up the sun on the beaches, play one or all of the 12 golf courses, shop at high street shops, or stroll through galleries with one-of-a-kind island creations.

Jamaica Food & Drink

Jerk chicken or pork is a must; the island spices flavour it perfectly. Watch and learn island cooking at Zimbali's Cooking Studio, and don't forget to sample some of the freshly caught seafood available all around the island. Jamaican patties, stuffed with lobster or chicken and seasonings, are available at many food stands along the roads and in towns. For a sweet treat, try the fried plantains or any of the island's fresh fruit. For coffee lovers Blue Mountain coffee is a treat.

Jamaica Attractions

In Montego Bay, the coral reefs are spectacular and well worth a day's diving or snorkelling. Blue Hole or Dunn's River Falls, both near Ocho Rios, are fun ways to cool off in the water. The Rose Hall Great House is beautiful (and its story is spooky) - but everyone comes out alive. Call ahead to Barney's Hummingbird Garden for a truly unique experience of flora and fauna that only a few at a time get to see. You could also book a day trip to Appleton Rum Estate and tour the distillery.
