Day 1

UK to San Francisco

Cross the American continent and touch down in one of its most famous and most iconic cities. San Francisco is surprisingly compact and regarded by many as the best city in the entire USA.

Days 2-4

San Francisco

The City by the Bay is picturesque, easy to explore and a haven for food and drink lovers. Head to the historic Ferry Building for the superb farmer’s market, dine on freshly caught seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf and enjoy al fresco dining at Ghirardelli Square. Jump on one of the beautiful cable cars that whisk visitors over San Fran’s famous hills before joining a city tour to cross over the legendary Golden Gate Bridge.

Day 5

San Francisco to Yosemite National Park

Collect your car hit the road for the 4 hour drive to the Sierra Nevadas and Yosemite National Park. Cross California’s central belt before the land starts to rise and you ascend into one of America’s most famous mountain ranges. Pine trees cover the hills and lakes glisten as you leave the cities behind you.


Days 6-7

Yosemite National Park

Dense forests, wild flower meadows and cascading waterfalls frame Yosemite National Park’s much-photographed granite peaks. Away from Yosemite Village you can find your own piece of the paradise with walking trails to suit every level. First enshrined as a national park in 1864, Yosemite is now a haven for diverse wildlife from the giant sequoia trees to black bears and bobcats so why not join a ranger-guided tour to learn a little more about this amazing habitat.

Day 8

Yosemite National Park to the Winelands

Leave the national park behind and descend out of the mountains for the 4 hour drive to world-famous Napa Valley and California’s premiere wine country. Rolling hills are lined with vineyards in this surprisingly large region that stretches through the towns of Napa, Sonoma and Santa Rosa almost to the Pacific Coast. Alongside California’s fantastic wine, the town of Yountville has garnered international acclaim for its array of Michelin starred restaurants supporting farm-to-table cuisine.

Days 9-11


This varied region has plenty to offer visitors beyond the delights of wine tasting. Ancient forest, a wild and rugged coast as well as fun towns are all within easy driving distance of each other. No visit would be complete without visiting a few of the local vineyards, or perhaps you prefer to leave the car behind and visit a tasting room in downtown Napa.

Day 12

Winelands to San Francisco

It is a short drive back across the famous Golden Gate Bridge and on to San Francisco airport where you drop off your car ahead of your flight home.
