Rio - Iguassu Falls - Manaus - Amazon - Salvador - Praia do Forte... This 13 day itinerary encapsulates all that is iconic inBrazil with a 5 centre exploration around the country. From the throbbing city charm of Rio de Janeiro, experience the famed Iguazu Falls. Explore the Amazon with its gateway city, Manaus and delve into its depths with a 3 night stay in a Jungle Lodge before heading to the heart of Bahia in Salvador for its historic colonial charm and reputation.

Day 1 ( Rio )

Arrive Rio de Janeiro.

On Arrival at Rio de Janeiro airport and be transferred to the hotel of your choice, Remainder of your day will be at leisure. Rio de Janeiro (River of January), commonly referred to simply as Rio, is the capital city of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the second largest city of Brazil and the third largest metropolitan area and agglomeration in South America and the main tourist destination in the Southern Hemisphere. Rio de Janeiro is famous for its natural settings, its carnival celebrations, samba, Bossa Nova and hotel-lined tourist beaches, such as Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon. Some of the most famous landmarks in addition to the beaches include the giant statue of Christ, known as Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado mountain, named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World; Sugarloaf mountain with its cable car; the Sambródromo, a giant permanent parade avenue lined with grandstands which is used during Carnival. Rio de Janeiro will host the 2016 Summer Olympics, and will be the first South American city to host the event.

Morning at leisure. Afternoon City Tour and Sugarloaf Mountain.

This morning you are free to enjoy the marvelous beaches.

In the afternoon, take a Sugarloaf Mountain and City tour - After being picked you up from your hotel, we will go to downtown Rio, passing by the principal points of interest, including the Cathedral, in the heart of this enchanting city. The tour then continues to the foot of the Sugar Loaf - 'Praia Vermelha' area - where you are taken by cable-car to the mountain-top (ticket is included). Once there, you will enjoy the magnificent view as the sun sets over Copacabana Beach, before riding down again, and returning to the hotel.

Morning Corcovado & Tijuca Forest Tour. Afternoon at leisure.

In the morning, head out on the Corcovado and Tijuca Forest tour - after being picked from your hotel, the tour will continue to the Cosme Velho for a journey through the dense Atlantic Rain Forest of Tijuca, to the Christ Statue on Corcovado mountain. The guide will show you the wonderful sights of Rio. The tour continues to São Conrado and Pepino Beaches where the hang gliders land and, by noon, you are back at the hotel.

Afternoon free to relax and enjoy this marvelous city.

Day 4 ( Rio - Iguazu Falls )

Transfer and flight from Rio to Iguassu

After breakfast take a private transfer to the airport for your flight to Foz do Iguassu.
Arrival in Foz do Iguassu and private transfer to your chosen hotel (if you choose the Deluxe Tour, you will be staying inside the park at Hotel das Cataratas, otherwise you will be staying in Foz town). 

Depending on your arrival flight time, you will either have the afternoon at leisure to explore Foz Town or the surrounding Falls (depending on the accommodations), or spend the evening relaxing in your hotel.

Optional tour available for morning flight departures to explore the Brazilian side of the Falls.

Day 4 ( Rio - Iguazu Falls )

Half day tour to Iguassu Falls on the Argentinian side

Depart your hotel bound for Iguassu Falls on the Argentinian side of the falls Iguazu National Park Visitors centre, in order to get to the boardwalks from where the visitors will see the Falls, you will board a gas-propelled train, that will take you to the upper falls circuit and the Devil’s Throat. Tours to the Argentine side of the Falls take place through the lower circuit catwalks, with a duration of one hour and the upper circuit with an approximate duration of 50 minutes. The access to San Martin Island is through the catwalks of the lower circuit. This visit will last 1 ½ hours. In order to visit the Devil’s Throat, the visitor must board the train at the Main Station or at the Cataratas Station, close to the Upper Circuit. Once you get to the end of the boardwalks, you will be surprised by a strategic lookout point resting on the side of the gorgeous Devil’s Throat. The tour to Devil’s Throat is approximately 2 hours long, but well worth the visit. During this visit to the Falls you will enjoy a detailed appreciation of both flora and fauna as well the Falls who are literally at the reach of one’s hands.

Day 5 ( Iguazu Falls )

Day 6 ( Iguazu Falls - Manaus )

Transfer to Foz do Iguassu Airport. Flight to Manaus.

This morning you will be transferred from your Iguazu hotel to Foz do Iguassu Airport for your flight to Manaus - the Brazilian gateway to the Amazon.  Upon arrival into Manaus, you will be met by your guide and taken to your hotel.

Overnight in your chosen Manaus Hotel.

Day 6 ( Iguazu Falls - Manaus )

Day 7 ( Manaus - Amazon )

Transfer to Jungle Lodge. Afternoon to rest and relax (B,L,D)

This morning you will be transferred to the Jungle Lodge. Spend the afternoon resting and taking in the local sounds and smells of the local Amazonian Rainforest experience.

Day 7 ( Manaus - Amazon )

Lodge Activities.

Today you will be able to partake in a whole host of Jungle lodge activites such as boat tours to see some local wildlife, trekking through the jungle, Piranha fishing in the Amazon River, taking a photographic safari, nocturnal wildlife spotting tours and cattle handing. You can do as much or as little as you feel you can do!

Day 8 ( Amazon )

Day 9 ( Amazon - Salvador )

Transfer to Manaus Airport. Flight to Salvador

After breakfast this morning you will be transferred to Manaus Airport in time for your flight to Salvador. Upon arrival into Salvador, you will be met by your guide and taken to your hotel.

Overnight in your chosen Salvador Hotel.

Day 9 ( Amazon - Salvador )

Day 10 ( Salvador )

Half day historical city tour including Mercado Modelo.

After breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide for a half day city tour around Salvador. This tour will give you a good overall impression of Salvador and its principal historical landmarks. Visiting, Farol da Barra (Lighthouse) in the Barra district, we will stop for historical information and photos. Continue to Municipal Square with a stop at the Lacerda Elevator, where you will have a breath-taking view of Baía de Todos os Santos (All Saints Bay). Walking through the cobblestone streets of the Pelourinho district, the city's historic old town, you will understand why UNESCO has called the architectural complex the most important colonial architecture in Brazil. Then proceed to Mercado Modelo (Handicraft Market) to try your luck at negotiating a bargain for souvenirs before returning to the hotel.

Day 11 ( Salvador - Praia do Forte )

Transfer to Praia do Forte.

Today you will be transferred to Praia do Forte (approx 1 hour away).

Praia do Forte is a former fishing village 50 miles or an hour's drive north of Salvador, the capital of Bahía state. It has some of the most beautiful beaches in north east Brazil. beach, many restauarnts, craft shops and bars but still is a very laid back place. This area features beaches where sea turtles lay their eggs, coral reefs and humpback whale watching areas. Praia do Forte has been home to the principal base of the Tamar Project, fundamental in the preservation of the region.
