Day 1


Arrival and welcome at Hanoi Airport. Transfer to check in at the hotel. The hotel is at your disposal from 2.00pm. Head out to explore the diverse architecture of Hanoi and its famous 36 streets of the Old Quarter with a combined walking/cyclo tour. After a walk around Hoan Kiem Lake, you will enjoy a massage at a local spa. Meals on your own account. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2

Hanoi Sightseeing

Enjoy a full day tour of Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital city, including Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the traditional stilt house and the revered One-Pillar Pagoda. Afterwards, visit Vietnam’s first university, the thousand-year-old Temple of Literature. In the afternoon, visit the Ethnology Museum where you can discover the diversity of Vietnam’s many ethnic groups. In the evening, you get to enjoy a traditional water puppet show. Meals on your own account. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3

Hanoi - Halong Bay

Get an early start and learn the art of Tai Chi on the lakeside or in a park. Afterwards enjoy a traditional Vietnamese breakfast – Pho - an excellent noodle soup prepared by a small, specialized local restaurant. At around 9.00, we start the journey to Halong Bay and arrive at around noon where you will board a beautiful boat for an overnight cruise on Halong Bay. An excellent menu of fresh seafood awaits you on-board. Overnight on the boat.

Day 4

Halong Bay - Hanoi - Hue

After breakfast on board, we keep cruising on the bay. You will disembark late in the late morning and return to Hanoi Airport, passing vast expanses of rice fields in the Red River Delta. Stop en-route to visit a pottery village or an ancient elephant pagoda. Fly directly to Hue where you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel.

Day 5


In the morning, pay a visit to the ancient Imperial Citadel and a typical pagoda before having a vegetarian lunch in the pagoda. In the afternoon, visit Tu Duc Mausoleum, one of the most beautiful tombs of Hue. It is a model of Vietnamese traditional art. This is also an opportunity to learn about the history of the Nguyen Dynasty and the French colonial period. Continue onwards to Minh Mang Tomb. Dinner on your own account. Overnight at the hotel

Day 6

Hue - Danang - Hoi An

Depart by private transfer to the peaceful outskirts of Hue. Enjoy a leisurely cycle tour to Thuy Bieu village. Admire the quiet and superb landscapes of Hue: rice fields, fruit tree orchards and vegetable gardens, communal houses, primary schools and a valley of cemeteries. Along the route, visit a homemade incense producing household and observe the daily life of the farmers as they perform their strenuous work with joy and enthusiasm. Return to Hue in the late morning. In the afternoon, depart to Hoi An via the scenic Hai Van Pass to view one of the most beautiful panoramas in Vietnam. Stop at the quiet, white sandy beach of Lang Co and arrive in Hoi An late in the afternoon. Check in at the hotel. Meals on your own account. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 7

Hoi An

Take a stroll to visit Hoi An town, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its unusually well-preserved ancient streets and homes. Set out to explore the quaint cobblestone streets of the town with more than two-century-old Chinese houses. Sites include the Japanese Bridge, the Chinese Temple, and Phung Hung Chinese-style trading house. Then you have some free time to visit the local markets or maybe have your own suit or clothing made. Meals on your own account. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8

Hoi An - Tra Que Vegetable village

In the morning, cycle through the rural scenery of Hoi An to a small vegetable planting village located on the banks of Tra Que Lagoon, known for its special aromatic herbs. Join the local people in their daily work of planting and watering vegetables and learn to cook some local specialities, for example “Tam Huu” – combining shrimps, pork and aromatic herbs. After lunch, return to Hoi An for free time in Hoi An. Dinner on your own account. 

Optional outing 
In the afternoon, you have the option of joining an afternoon tour to My Son – the most important Cham archaeological site in the centre of Vietnam. Return to your hotel in late afternoon. £25 per person if you prebook with us.

Day 9

Hoi An - Danang - Ho Chi Minh City

Depart for the morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City. You will be welcomed at the airport and transferred to the city for a visit to the ethnic Chinese quarter of Cho Lon with the Binh Tay Market and Thien Hau Pagoda. Check in at the hotel. In the afternoon, depart for Cu Chi where you will visit the amazing tunnel network built by Vietnamese fighters during the Vietnam War. Return to the city at the end of the day. Meals on your own account. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10

Mekong Delta Cruise - Bassac Cruise

Depart for Cai Be to board the Bassac boat at noon. Enjoy a welcome drink then cruise on the Tien Giang River towards Cho Lach while lunch is served. Rest on the deck with an open bar (all soft drinks and tea/coffee are complimentary). After lunch, branch into the Cho Lach Canal for 30 minutes of travelling through the traffic of sand and rice barges to see fruit drying facilities and wooden ship building yards. Visit a village on the banks of the Mang Thit River and enjoy the sunset. The crew will serve dinner while the Bassac is cruising Mang Thit River.

Day 11

Mekong Delta Cruise - Ho Chi Minh City

In the morning, take the time to appreciate the Mekong Delta which is astonishingly beautiful at first light. Breakfast is available while the ship is cruising to the Tra On Floating Market. Continue towards Can Tho for Cai Rang Floating Market. Check out and transfer onto a local boat to visit the floating market, the nearby arroyos and gardens. Arrive at Can Tho in the late morning and travel back to Ho Chi Minh City. Meals on your own account. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 12

Depart Ho Chi Minh City

Enjoy free time to spend as you wish before transferring to the airport for your flight (rooms available until noon). Meals on your own account. End of services.
