Day 1

Arrival into Phnom Penh

Be welcomed at Phnom Penh Airport and transferred to your hotel. After check in the, day is yours to spend at leisure. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 2

Day Tour of Phnom Penh

Today you’ll tour Phnom Penh. Start at the National Museum, which displays an extensive collection of Cambodian sculptures, before heading to the Royal Palace. Built in 1866, the Palace houses a collection of Khmer art and the Silver Pagoda featuring two Buddha: a golden Buddha encrusted with diamonds and one encrusted with emeralds. The tour continues with visits to the Killing Fields and genocide museum, learning about Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge regime.

Please note: the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda can be closed without notice for official ceremonies; if this occurs an alternative visit will be arranged, if possible.

Day 3

Bike Ride Round Phnom Penh

Spend the day cycling round Phnom Penh, learning about daily life of local Cambodians, breaking up the journey (and give your legs a rest!) with boat and ferry trips. Tour the central market, housed in an art deco building, and pick up a few souvenirs. The rest of the day is to be spent at your leisure. Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 4

Phnom Penh to Battambang

Depart Phnom Penh for Battambang taking in rice paddies, sugar palms and traditional stilted houses along the way. You’ll stop at Kompong Chhnang village to see local potters creating decorative pottery and kitchenware and at Kompong Luong, a floating village where you’ll have a chance to ride in a traditional boat and eat lunch at a local restaurant. Arrive into Battambang in the afternoon for check in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 5

Sightseeing in Battambang

On your cycling tour of Battambang you’ll have the chance to experience the way of life in a Cambodian village. Take part in daily activities including preparing sticky rice and the traditional fish paste ‘Prahok’ and the local knife-making custom. Spend the afternoon exploring the city by tuk-tuk, passing French colonial architecture, visiting the provincial museum and heading up the hill to see the ancient Prasat Banon temple. In the evening attend a circus performance at a local art school funded by an NGO supporting community development through social, educational and culture services. Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 6

Battambang to Siem Reap and the Angkor National Museum

Depart Battambang and drive through the local countryside, stopping to observe stone sculptors and visit a silk farm where you’ll have the chance to see how silk is produced from raising the silk worms to dying the fabric. Arrive at Siem Reap in time for lunch in a local restaurant and a tour of the Angkor National Museum. Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 7

Family Fun at Angkor

Start your day trekking through the jungle and rice fields, discovering ancient Khmer temples as you go along. Divide into two groups and see off on a treasure hunt! Children will be handed a treasure hunter’s book and encouraged to solve clues by speaking with locals to try and find the secret treasure of Angkor. Have lunch beside a remote temple before returning to your hotel in the evening.

Day 8

Explore the Temples of Angkor

Spend a second day exploring the temples of Angkor Wat. Start with the remote Temple of Bang Mealea; built in the 12th century the temples is adorned with statues of Apsaras and tree roots have wrapped themselves around the stonework. A private picnic lunch is provided, followed by a foot massage to soothe tired feet! The afternoon sees you visiting Banteay Srei, a pink sandstone temple known as the Citadel of Women and housing examples of Khmer art. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 9

Day Trip to Tonle Sap

Head off on a day trip to Kompong Khleang, a village built on stilts offering views of the surrounding rice fields and floodplains. Meet the local villagers and take a boat tour before returning to Siem Reap for an afternoon at your leisure. Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 10

Depart to the UK

Time at your leisure to relax in the hotel or explore Siem Reap's Old Market before your transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
