Luang Prabang surrounding
Suggestion for early risers, we will set out to enjoy the sunrise at the crossroads in town around 06.00 when you will also see monks in saffron robes from Luang Prabang’s many temples walking in long silent processions seeking for offerings left to them by the faithful. Please respect them, watch them in silence and refrain from disturbing them. In the morning, you will discover the Laos Traditional craft. You will bike to the handicraft village Ban Xang Khong well known as the paper village. You can discover all creations made of paper, typically Lao, and watch the weavers worked on traditional looms. Lao silk, part wild silks, is defined by its method of manufacture exclusively hand-made. Stop at Artisans du Mekong exhibits the works of local artists and artisans. Then, an artisan in the village will welcome you reveal the secrets of Sa papermaking. During this workshop with the locals, you can create your own lantern by Sa paper. Have picnic lunch in the village.
In the afternoon, embark on a beautiful traditional-style cruising boat to cruise along the Mekong until reaching Pak Ou Cave. Visit these sacred caves – also known as Tham Ting by many locals, which shelter hundreds of Buddha statuettes. The caves offer a splendid view of the Mekong. Back to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon and free at your leisure.
