Day 6: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Keep your eyes peeled for giraffes and dik diks as you explore the different layers of the rock, rich with fossils from creatures that have been extinct for millions of years. There’s a profound sensation that creeps up when walking through this gorge; it’s easy to imagine Homo Erectus standing up for the first time and stepping out into the wider world – over the same ground you’re now walking on.

In the afternoon you’ll carry on towards the vast open grasslands of Ndutu, where you’ll enjoy a stunning game drive around the area in the southern Serengeti known for the Great Wildebeest Migration, which occurs between late December and March.
