Day 1 Arrival in San José, Costa Rica

Meet and greet at San Jose International Airport. Transfer to your hotel. Driving time: 20 minutes (approximately)

Day 2 Arenal

Scenic drive to Arenal

After a fairly early breakfast you will be picked up for the transfer to Arenal, the scenic drive takes approx. 3 hours

Few sites in Costa Rica inspire more respect and admiration than Arenal Volcano. At 5437 feet, its tall and conical shape stands imposing over the pastured green hillsides that surround its base. Although currently in a resting phase, Arenal has been Costa Rica's most active volcano for the past 43 years. Its history is charged with eruptions - both major and minor - that have intimately affected the region and people who live here.

You'll have free time in the afternoon to relax at the hotel, visit the town of La Fortuna, or if feeling more energetic head off on a hike closer to the volcano, or follow nature trails to beautiful waterfalls.

Day 3 Volcano Hiking Tour & Tabacon Hot Springs

Enjoy Arenal with a Volcano Hiking Tour & Tabacon Hot Springs

After breakfast, the morning is at leisure.

In the afternoon there is a tour which will allow you to enjoy extraordinary views of Arenal Volcano during a short hike in one of the trails close to the volcano area, then at the hot springs you can enjoy a healthy and relaxing soak along with a memorable view. Dinner included.

Day 4 Cloud Forest & The Town Of Monteverde

Monteverde Cloud Forest incl Night Tour Of Eternal Children's Rainforest

After breakfast depart the hotel and drive to Lake Arenal Dam for a 30 minute scenic cruise across the tranquil lake taking in views of the commanding volcano, a mountain range and bird spotting opportunities. Following the boat trip sit back and enjoy an impressive drive up the mountainside on a steep road admiring stunning views of the lush valley and varied landscape to reach the town of Monteverde, located at the south end of the cloud forest. Here the climate is cooler, with an average of 17ºC (60ºF).


Spend the afternoon at leisure, walking round the quaint village of Monteverde, before heading off to the Eternal Children's Rainforest Tour for a guided night tour within the largest private reserve in Costa Rica.

Day 5 Gulf Of Papagayo, Pacific Coast

After breakfast, take a three and a half hour transfer to the Guanacaste province and northwestern coast of Costa Rica journeying through varied countryside with glimpses of happy 'Ticos' to the Gulf of Papagayo.

Secrets Papagayo is set in the exclusive Gulf of Papagayo, close to the Marina Papagayo with its world-class sport fishing, pedestrian village, gardens and artisan walkway.

The next few days are yours to spend at leisure. Active seekers can speak to the hotel's activity desk for optional fishing, golfing, scuba diving and whitewater rafting experiences (please note these are at an additional charge).


Secrets Papagayo offers excellent dining at a selection of restaurants and bars on site, with unlimited international and domestic top-shelf spirits. It has a choice of swimming pools and access to two beaches, with wait service, plus watersports. There is also a nature trail within the hotel grounds.

Transfer to San José for departure back to UK

Sit down to one final breakfast before your private transfer to San José's Juan Santamaria International Airport, approximately 4 hours and half hours away. Please note that check in at the airline counter must be done three hours prior to flight departure.
