Bwindi Lodge

Ratings

Purpose-built for gorilla tracking adventures in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, this lodge is just steps from the entrance to the only park in the world home to both chimpanzee and mountain gorilla.

Bwindi Lodge overlooks a 25,000 year old rainforest, one of the most biologically diverse on the planet, home to 120 species of mammals and 350 species of birds. This authentic eco-lodge is all thatch, timber and stone and uses solar power and bucket showers to minimise its effect on the environment. But it’s not all rustic – all guests enjoy the convenience of personal butler service and complimentary laundry and shoe shine services.

About Bwindi Lodge

Bwindi Lodge was one of the very first lodges to open for mountain gorilla tracking adventures in Uganda and it has only gotten better and better over the years. With all Ugandan staff, it’s truly authentic, warm and inviting. Overlooking the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest where gorilla, monkey and chimpanzee roam free, Bwindi Lodge is one of the best places for gorilla tracking in the world. While it feels secluded and far away from it all, it’s less than a ten minutes’ walk from the entrance to the forest. Inside the dark overhangs of the trees, the forest is home to more than half the world’s population of mountain gorilla - 15 troops in the park made up of more than 400 mountain gorillas.

But it’s not just about gorilla adventures here. There are also river walks and a variety of hikes including the Muzabajirro Loop Trail and the Munyanga River Trail, village tours, Ugandan tea tours and visits to the Bwindi Bar – a bar run and supported by the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trusts that gives jobs in hospitality to disadvantaged local youths. Spend your evenings around the enormous stone fire pit or join others guests for dinner around the communal table.
