Hue, Danang and Hoi An Attractions

Hue’s most famous attraction is unquestionably its UNESCO-listed Imperial City with its ancient citadel and the Forbidden Purple City. Other attractions include the seven-storey Thien Mu Pagoda, overlooking the meandering Perfume River, plus the tombs of the Nguyen emperors. When in Danang, a visit to My Khe Beach enables travellers to enjoy soft golden sands and pristine clear waters. Just inland from Danang lie the impressive Marble Mountains, which loom amid the coastal plains. Hoi An’s beautiful Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a charming place to simply wander and admire the architecture, canals and the iconic 17th-century Japanese covered bridge.

Hue, Danang and Hoi An Food and Drink

Hue is renowned for its royal cuisine, where intricate dishes are prepared using unique local ingredients. Such dishes include Bun Bo Hue, a spicy noodle soup with beef, and Com Hen, which is a rice dish that incorporates delicious baby clams. In Danang, seafood is king. Visit some of Danang’s bustling markets to sample fresh seafood or head to one of the sumptuous seafood restaurants that line the coast. Hoi An boasts a thriving street food scene, with busy marketplaces and food stands serving local specialties like Cao Lau, which is made from thick rice noodles, succulent pork slices, croutons, fresh herbs and a tasty broth. Another Hoi An classic, Banh Mi is a sandwich that combines the city’s Vietnamese and French influences, whereby a crispy baguette is loaded with ingredients like pate, cold meats, herbs, and chilli pepper.

Hue, Danang and Hoi An Activities

One of the most enthralling activities to do while in Hue is a boat trip on the Perfume River, during which you can enjoy the passing scenery of historical sites and lush landscapes. Other Hue-based activities include traditional Vietnamese cooking classes and bike tours into the surrounding countryside and its rural villages and orchards. In Danang, you can enjoy a variety of water sports at My Khe Beach, marvel at a spectacular sunset beside the gently flowing Han River or ascend the Ba Na Hills by cable car for panoramic views across the landscape. Hoi An is famous for its lantern-making workshops, lantern festivals and cycling opportunities in the countryside, home to traditional villages and picturesque rice paddies.
