Phu Quoc and Con Dao Attractions

One of Phu Quoc’s biggest draws is Bai Truong, or Long Beach, a sweeping, white-sand beach hemmed by leaning palm trees and turquoise waters. Another of its beaches, Bai Sao (Sao Beach) is renowned for its peaceful atmosphere and crystal-clear waters. In Con Dao, the Con Dao Prison is famous for having detained members of the Viet Cong during the French colonial era and Vietnamese-American war. Con Dao is also known for its immaculate beaches, which include Dam Trau beach and Ong Dung Beach.

Phu Quoc and Con Dao Food and Drink

While Phu Quoc is famous for its fish sauce production, both archipelagos offer astounding seafood across a variety of fresh, aromatic dishes. You can try seafood hotpots, grilled shrimp or fish marinated in spices, Goi Ca Trich (a herring salad), while Muc Rang Muoi (fried squid with fish sauce) is popular on Con Dao and seafood-style Banh Mi’s are available everywhere you look. Another Con Dao classic is the Con Dao Pizza, a street food dish which is made with rice paper, eggs, minced pork and a variety of toppings.

Phu Quoc and Con Dao Activities

Both island groups are blessed with pristine waters that are abundant in marine life. For this reason, snorkelling and water sports are extremely popular. You can snorkel right from the beach or embark on excursions to offshore islands and breathtaking snorkelling spots. In Phu Quoc, you can visit a fish sauce factory, the Vinpearl Safari and Conservation Park with white lions and elephants or Phu Quoc National Park with its diverse flora and fauna. Con Dao National Park is known for its monkeys and sea turtles, and the Hang Duong Cemetery honours patriots who died during Vietnam’s fight for independence.
