Airports & International Connections

The Dominican Republic has seven international airports with scheduled flights.

Major international airports include:

• Punta Cana International (PUJ / MDPC) — the main gateway for the Punta Cana / Bávaro / Cap Cana resort region

• Las Américas International (SDQ / MDSD) — serves Santo Domingo and is a major hub.

• La Romana (LRM / MDLR)

Flights from the UK / Europe

There are direct (nonstop) flights from London Gatwick (LGW) to Punta Cana (PUJ), operated by British Airways. The flight time is about 9 hours 20–25 minutes

London Heathrow (LHR) currently has no nonstop flights to Punta Cana — routes from Heathrow involve at least one stop.

Other UK airports may offer flights with one or more stops via European or North American hubs (e.g. via Madrid, Amsterdam, New York, etc.).

Airlines that commonly operate routes (direct or with connections) on London ↔ Punta Cana include British Airways, Air Transat, JetBlue, American Airlines, Air Canada, Air Europa, etc.

Edged by both the Caribbean Sean and Atlantic Ocean, it’s all about water-based activities in Punta Cana so be sure to pack your swimwear and goggles. Think of a watersport and you’re bound to be able to try it out, here: windsurfing, kayaking, diving, snorkelling, banana boats, parasailing. Boat trips to Isla Sanoa are popular as are organised snorkelling trips to Marinarium, a natural offshore pool. Back on land – and up in the mountains – get your adrenaline pumping zip lining!

Punta Cana Food & Drink

When staying in one of Punta Cana’s high-end luxury resort you’ll be treated to an impressive range of restaurants and bars, particularly if you’re staying on All Inclusive - highly recommended) by Best at Travel. Local cuisine is a mixture of influences from indigenous, Spanish and African cultures with seafood ever-popular and rice, beans and meat a staple.
