A five-star wellness retreat on the tip of Croatia's Punta Skala peninsula, where a 6,000 m² Acquapura SPA meets a beachfront Adriatic setting and one of the Dalmatian coast's most ambitious dining collections.

Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera is a five-star wellness hotel on the Punta Skala peninsula near Zadar, Croatia, sitting directly on the Adriatic with beach access, multiple pools, and a spa footprint that few properties on this coastline can match. Classified as a five-star property by Giata and a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice award recipient, ranked first of four hotels in Petrcane, it draws couples, families, and solo wellness travellers who want a serious spa alongside genuine sea and sun.

The setting is the peninsula itself: a quiet promontory where the light changes across the water through the day and the Acquapura SPA draws you in from the moment you arrive. Thirteen dining venues, from Mediterranean Dalmatian to Asian-inspired, mean you rarely need to leave the property. As one guest put it: 'We received 5-star service by the nicest, friendliest, and kindest staff here at Falkensteiner Iadera!!'

Dining

Thirteen venues across the property give you real variety, from a formal four-course dinner to a light lunch by the spa pool.

  • Jadran is the main restaurant, serving Mediterranean-Dalmatian cuisine in a panoramic garden setting. Breakfast runs daily from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available. Dinner (6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.) follows a four-course format: salad bar and appetisers, soup, pasta or risotto, a main of meat, seafood, or vegetarian, and dessert or fine cheeses. A weekly Dalmatian night adds a regional highlight. Guests have called it 'the greatest breakfast ever.'

  • Bracera brings seafood à la carte to a sea-view terrace, with a three-course menu of appetiser, main, and dessert. Seasonal, operating April to October (reopening April 2026).

  • Planika and the Planika Steakhouse cover grilled dishes, pizzas, and meat specialities, with sea views and a relaxed à la carte format. Seasonal, April to October.

  • Spice offers an Asian-inspired à la carte menu, open evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., May to October.

  • Acquapura Spa Bistro serves light lunches and snacks by the sea, noon to 5:00 p.m. daily.

  • Sotto Voce Lounge Bar is the all-day social hub: open from 7:00 a.m., with a fireside lounge, cigar lounge, and terrace for evening drinks.

  • The Pool Bar / Lounge, Food Trucks (May to October), and the Iadera Dining Collection round out the offer.

Best at Travel tip: The Iadera Dining Collection Half-Board, available May to September, lets you rotate through Bracera, Planika, and Spice on à la carte dinners. For a nine-night stay, that means five included restaurant evenings. Worth building your itinerary around.

    Spa & Wellness

The Acquapura SPA is the defining reason many guests choose Iadera over any other property on this stretch of coast. At 6,000 m², it is one of the largest wellness spaces on the Dalmatian coast, light-flooded and designed for genuine immersion rather than a quick treatment between beach sessions.

At its heart is the Turkish Hammam, which guests have described as world-class, and the Black Spa area, an indoor sanctuary of relaxation rooms and a sauna world. Daily spa access per adult is included in your stay.

The Fortis Health & Fitness Centre serves those who prefer a more active approach, and yoga sessions with Studio Herzfeld are available for guests seeking something more restorative. Post-treatment, the Acquapura Spa Bistro is a short walk away for a light lunch by the water.

Bookable spa packages include the Acquapura Spa Escape (30-minute spa treatment per person per stay), Sea & Spa: Time for Two (30-minute access to the Private Spa Suite), and the Signature Hammam Ritual, a Mediterranean wellness experience for two.

    Facilities & Activities

Beyond the spa, the property offers water sports, sports courts, bicycle rental, and multiple pools. The beachfront location gives you direct Adriatic access, with the option to place your lounger at the water's edge. Electric vehicle charging stations and valet service are available on site, and the property is pet-friendly. Free high-speed WiFi runs throughout.

  • Location & Getting There

Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera sits at Punta Skala, a peninsula on the northern Dalmatian coast, in the village of Petrčane near Zadar. The position is genuinely coastal: the Adriatic wraps around the promontory, and the hotel's beachfront access is direct rather than a short walk away.

Zadar Airport is the nearest gateway, with an airport transfer service available. Guests staying ten or more nights receive a complimentary two-way transfer, making arrival and departure entirely effortless. Zadar itself, with its Roman forum, sea organ, and old town, is within easy reach for a half-day excursion. The broader Dalmatian coast, including the Kornati islands and the national parks of Krka and Paklenica, are accessible for day trips.

Best at Travel tip: Zadar's famous sea organ and sun salutation installation are best experienced at dusk. Pair an afternoon in the old town with dinner back at Bracera on the water.

    Who It's For

Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera suits three distinct groups particularly well.

For spa and wellness travellers, the 6,000 m² Acquapura SPA, the Hammam ritual packages, and the included daily spa access make this one of the most complete wellness stays on the Croatian Adriatic.

For couples and honeymoons, the Senior Suite Seaside with its private terrace, the Sea & Spa: Time for Two package, and the rotating à la carte dining collection create a genuinely romantic framework.

For families, the Junior Suites and Villa Donata accommodate up to seven guests, children's menus are available at Jadran, and the summer sports camps offer structured activity for older children and teenagers.

    Activities

On the water, you'll find a full range of water sports from the beachfront. Higher-risk activities such as jet skiing or water-skiing may require additional insurance; your consultant can advise. Bicycle rental lets you explore the Punta Skala peninsula at your own pace. Sports courts are available for those who want to stay active between spa sessions.

Two specialist summer programmes are available for younger guests and sports enthusiasts: the Arsenal Football Camp, where participants train at Punta Skala, and the Sunball ATP Legend Camp, led by ATP legend Karel Nováček. Both are bookable as dedicated packages; speak to your consultant for current dates and availability.

    New Schengen entry requirements

From October 2025, the new EU Entry/Exit System (EES) started for all non-EU nationals, including British nationals, travelling in or out of the Schengen area. The Schengen area is made up of 29 European countries, 25 of which are EU Member States. The EES is a digital border system which registers non-EU visitors travelling into the Schengen area instead of stamping their passports.

You will need to have your fingerprints and your photo taken when entering the Schengen area. If you enter the Schengen area through Dover, Eurotunnel at Folkestone or St Pancras International, your fingerprints and photo will be taken before you leave the UK. You will also need to provide either your fingerprint or photo on exit.

You may experience longer queues at borders when the new system starts.
