Heading away from the beachfront of Durban you make your way to the picturesque setting of the Midlands where you will spend 2 nights at a boutique property that complements its scenic setting.

The Midlands - Drakensberg Mountains
Enjoy your last breakfast at the hotel before setting off for your journey up into the Drakensberg Mountains where you will spend 2 nights taking in the breathtaking views of the highest mountain range in South Africa. Spend your days going on walks and viewing the highest concentration of Bushman paintings.
Just looking at the paintings will tell you a story of what it was like all those years ago. Depending on time of year you're even able to take part in Ice climbing when the winter sets in.

Drakensberg Mountains - Fugitives Drift
After a week of travelling through gorgeous scenery and taking in just a glimpse of what this magnificent part of the country offers, you find yourself at the centre of a historic gem.

Day Tour: Rorke's Drift - Afternoon tour (3 hours)
The battle of Rorke’s Drift, 22nd January 1879. An account of this epic defence against impossible odds – an action in which 11 V.C.’s were won. Departs at 15:00 (winter) or 15:15 (summer). Guests have time to look through the museum at Rorke’s Drift before the lecture begins at 16:00.
There is very little walking involved. The lecture concludes around 18:00 and guests are then given the opportunity to look around the memorials and graveyard before returning to the Lodge and Guest House.

Fugitives Drift - Phinda Game Reserve
On your last leg of your trip, you'll drive across to Phinda Mountain Lodge for 2 nights on a fully inclusive basis. The lodge lies within the 23 000 hectares of Private Game Reserve, in the Maputaland region of KwaZulu-Natal and approximately 3 hours’ drive from Durban.
Spend your morning and late afternoons on game drives in search of the big 5, alternatively head out on foot on a tracking adventure with your guide and tracker, or if you are the more adventurous type then you can opt to have a night under the stars and take in a star gazing lesson.
