This 8 night itinerary offers the best of Cape Town and the Cape Whale Coast.
Your city and whale watching adventure begins with four nights in Cape Town where you can explore the city’s famous attractions from the central base of the V&A Waterfront.
A two hour transfer will pass through stunning coastal scenery on your way to Grootbos Private Nature Reserve where you will spend three nights in total seclusion on the edge of Walker Bay, home to visiting Southern Right whales. With private transfers included, this itinerary is one of the most relaxing ways to explore the Cape’s east coast.
Day 1 : Arrive Cape Town
UK - Cape Town
Arrive at Cape Town International Airport and transfer to the V&A Waterfront where you will stay four nights at the One&Only Cape Town.

Day 2: Table Mountain
Wake Up on Table Mountain
Combine your hike up this iconic landmark with an overnight stay in a comfortable stone cottage with spectacular views over the Cape Flats to False Bay. You’ll start this morning with a private guided tour of Kirstenbosch before ascending the mountain. You’ll be given a lunch pack while your overnight bag will be transferred separately. You’ll make your way up Skeleton Gorge to the summit, taking in the sweeping views over the Cape Flats towards the Hottentots Holland Mountains. On top, you’ll enjoy a hot shower with traditional braai or potjie dinner around the fire, before heading to bed. You’ll awake to the sunrise and enjoy a continental breakfast before setting out to the Waterworks museum. You’ll be crossing the top of the mountain, passing the magnificent storage dams built in the late 1800’s to help supply Cape Town with water. You’ll enjoy your packed lunch en-route before heading to the cable car station where you’ll descend to meet your luggage and driver at the base of the mountain.
Day 3 - Day 4: Explore Cape Town your way
Cape Town
Spend the next few days exploring Cape Town at your leisure. Based in the V & A Waterfront, you can enjoy easy access to Cape Town’s most famous attractions, including the shopping at the V & A Waterfront, the Cape Wheel and the beaches along the Atlantic Seaboard. Head out to Robben Island, explore Kirstenbosch Gardens or head down to Cape Point.

Day 5 - Day 6 (Cape Town - Gansbaai)
Cape Town - Gansbaai
After breakfast, transfer by road to Grootbos Private Nature Reserve where you will spend the next three nights. Tucked between the mountains and the waters of Walker Bay, you can enjoy spotting the Marine Big 5 that call this dramatic stretch of coastline home – whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and penguins. A welcome drink, fresh fruit daily, a buffet breakfast, light lunch, 5-course dinner are included. You can also enjoy horse riding, bird watching, guided nature walks and one complimentary whale watching trip during your stay.
