Halkidiki Activities

It is claimed that Halkidiki offers the best beaches in Greece and combined with crystal clear waters it is no surprise that the sea offers plenty of activities: from diving to sailing and plenty of waterspouts there is something for everyone. Going inland, mountains covered in forests are a hiker’s or mountain biker’s dream – the beautifully fresh air and refreshing springs will energize even the most relaxed holidaymaker! And then of course it’s time to return to those famous beaches!

Halkidiki Food & Drink

In a region known for its food and drink you will not be disappointed. The wine and herbs combined with the rich produce of this sunny region create some simple, yet delicious dishes such as savoury pies, meat specialities and fresh salads. Excellent cheeses are found across the region, many made with goat’s milk, olive oil and olives are in abundance and for a sweeter tooth don’t miss the desserts soaked in local honey. The local brandy tipple tsipouro is strong but tasty!

Halkidiki Attractions

Probably the most famous sight is Mount Athos, a complex of 20 monasteries founded in 9th century and now on the UNESCO World Heritage List. As it can only be visited by men who have pre-arranged an excursion you might prefer to take a boat trip and view these incredible building clinging to the cliff’s edge from the sea – it really is quite a sight. There are plenty of ancient sights across the region including Aristotle’s birthplace and the site of the mythical Clash of the Titans.
