Tacos aside, the city is packed with markets where stands sell delicious street food and comida corridas (midday three course meal) are a fantastic way to sample local cuisine at affordable prices. If you’re looking to quench your thirst, juice stands sell delicious juices made from guava, papaya and melon, mescal bars are ubiquitous and there’s an under-the-radar craft beer movement that is definitely worth checking out.

With one of the highest number of museums in the world, Mexico City is a culture and art-lovers haven. Wander the halls of Museo Nacional de Antropología or see the world’s largest collection of Frida Khalo paintings at the Dolores Olmedo Museum. Head to the northern suburbs and enjoy the quiet of the Basilica de Guadalupe, walk along the city’s iconic avenue, Paseo de la Reforma or pop into The Metropolitan Cathedral, the oldest and largest cathedral in Latin America.
