Itinerary idea in detail

Day 1: Ica

Lima to Ica via Pachacamac & Hacienda Tambo de Tacama

In the morning, you’ll depart Lima via private road transfer and begin the journey to Ica, which lies approximately 4 hrs 30 mins away along Peru’s Pacific coast.

En route, you’ll make a stop at the Pachacamac Archaeological Site*, home to incredible pre-Columbian relics. Before the Spanish conquest, the Pachacamac temple was the most essential religious centre on the Pacific perimeter of the Inca Empire’s vast territory. Thousands of people from across the empire would embark on pilgrimages to the temple to consult with the Oracle.

At Pachacamac, you can explore fascinating ruins including the Temple of the Sun, the Old Temple, the Painted Temple, Acllawasi (House of the Chosen Ones), Pilgrims Square and Taurichumpi. The complex also includes numerous pyramids with multi-level platforms as well as a museum displaying artefacts that include pottery and mummified remains.

After exploring the history of Pachacamac, you’ll continue towards Ica, stopping at Hacienda Tambo de Tacama, the oldest known vineyard in South America. Here, you can enjoy a guided tour of the hacienda to learn about the production processes of wine and pisco while enjoying the hacienda’s charming architecture and surrounds.

During your time at the hacienda, you’ll enjoy a wine-tasting session to sample the local produce before sitting down for a delicious Creole lunch. You’ll then depart and continue the drive to Ica, where you’ll check into your accommodation.

Day 2: Paracas

Flight Over the Nazca Lines & UTV Adventure in the Huacachina Desert

At a prearranged time, you’ll be transferred to the Pisco aerodrome to begin your incredible flight over the Nazca Lines.

Created between 500 B.C. and 500 A.D., the Nazca Lines are a collection of pre-Columbian geoglyphs etched into the arid desertscape of Southern Peru. Covering an area of approximately 1,000 square kilometres, there are around 300 individual geoglyphs depicting plants and animals. Soaring over the desert by plane provides the best views of these startling artworks, which stand out against the rugged terrain of the desert for miles.

After your flight over the Nazca Lines, you’ll return to your hotel for lunch before heading out for a hair-raising UTV adventure across the smooth, rolling sand dunes of the Huacachina desert. You’ll start from the Huacachina Oasis, which lies nestled amongst the undulating sands. During the ATV tour, you’ll make stops to practise sandboarding down the dunes (optional).

As the sun begins to set, you’ll hunker down on the sand to enjoy a delicious picnic as the soft whispers of the wind and the tranquillity of the Peruvian desert create an enchanting backdrop. You’ll then return to your hotel in time for dinner.
