Day 1: Cape Town

Arrive in Cape Town

Upon your arrival into Cape Town’s international airport, you will be greeted by a local representative and transferred to your hotel in a comfortable private vehicle.

You’ll have the next three days to explore Cape Town and its surrounds, discovering the city’s vibrant culture, sweeping coastline and rugged geography.

The city itself is home to a variety of attractions, from fascinating museums showcasing local heritage to buzzing art galleries exhibiting captivating artworks. For stunning panoramic vistas across the city and coast, you can ascend to the summit of the iconic Table Mountain via cable car.

Outside Cape Town, you can visit dramatic beaches that fringe the wild Atlantic waters; take a ferry to Robben Island, a former prison and UNESCO World Heritage Site; and wander through the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden to learn about the native flora.

Today you’ll check out of your Cape Town hotel and hire a car to take you on the rest of your South African adventure.

The model you'll be hiring is a Toyota Corolla Quest (or similar) four-seater, a modern vehicle fitted with air conditioning, Bluetooth and USB connection. 

After completing your car hire, you’ll then drive inland into South Africa’s picturesque Cape Winelands, where row upon row of scenic vineyards carpet lush green valleys hemmed in by rugged mountains. You’ll drive to Franschhoek, one of the country’s most renowned winemaking areas that is home to centuries-old vineyards and traditional Cape Dutch architecture.

Checking out of your hotel, you’ll spend the day driving east to the charming coastal town of Knysna, located along South Africa’s breathtakingly scenic Garden Route.

Characterised by its dramatic coastal scenery, the Garden Route comprises 300 kilometres of rugged, windswept beaches with a backdrop of lagoons, forest-cloaked mountains and vast patches of fynbos ecosystem. Dotted along this coveted route – and well worth a detour – are numerous fishing villages and nature reserves for you to stop off and stretch your legs.
