Day 1: Arrive in Sri Lanka

Once you land in Colombo, you will be met by a local representative and transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle. The scenic journey to Sigiriya/Habarana takes approximately 4hrs.

Day 2: Anuradhapura
Explore Anuradhapura
Visit Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first capital city whose origins stretch back to the 5th century B.C. First you’ll explore Sri-Mahabodhi, an ancient fig tree grown from a sapling of the Buddha’s “tree of enlightenment” and believed to be more than 2,200 years old.
You’ll also visit Lovamahapaya, or “Brazen Palace”, established in the 2nd century B.C. and home to 1,600 stone columns from what was a former monks’ residence. Continue to Ruwanweli Seya, the most famous of Anuradhapura’s dagobas. Then visit the Samadhi Buddha, an intricate statue which depicts the Buddha in a state of deep meditation. You’ll also have time to explore the Isurumuniya rock temple, Kuttam Pokuna and the Thuparama Dagoba, the oldest dagoba on the island which enshrines a relic of the Buddha.

Day 3: Sigiriya & Polonnaruwa
Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Polonnaruwa
With a packed breakfast, you will first visit the astounding spectacle of Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a 5th-century fortress which stands atop a 600ft-high monolith that towers over the surrounding landscape. This jaw-dropping UNESCO World Heritage Site includes an ancient stairway which winds its way to the summit through what would once have been the jaws of a crouching lion - today only the paws remain. At the top, you can explore the remains of the former royal citadel established by the ancient King Kashyapa I.
After your visit to Sigiriya, you’ll continue to Polonnaruwa, a medieval city and UNESCO World Heritage Site which became the capital of Sri Lanka from the 10th to 12th century following Anuradhapura’s decline. Highlights here include the Royal Palace complex, four enormous images of the Buddha cut from a single slab of granite and various examples of the island’s Hindu influence such as the Temples of Shiva, numerous statues depicting Hindu gods, crumbling temples and more.

Day 4: Kandy
Dambulla Cave Temple & Matale Spice Gardens
After breakfast, you will be driven to the ancient kingdom of Kandy in the heart of Sri Lanka, a journey of approximately 3hrs.
En route, you will visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, which houses an astonishing 150 Buddhist statues plus cave paintings, as well as the Matale Spice Gardens, which brim with an array of exotic and aromatic spices that flourish in Sri Lanka's tropical climate.

Day 5: Kandy
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic & Kandyan Cultural Dance Show
Today, you will visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - also known as Sri Dalada Maligawa - an important shrine for Buddhists and one of the most sacred sites in Sri Lanka, housing the relic of the tooth of the Buddha.

Due to the online e-visa platfrom being currently suspended, a short stay visas can be obtained on arrival at the airport Immigration Counters for a fee of USD 50 per person.
