One of the planet’s unique terrestrial formations, the Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact volcanic caldera on Earth, stretching some twenty kilometres in diameter. Due to the steep slopes of its perimeter, the crater has effectively formed its own distinct ecosystem and is home to hundreds of different species including large mammals such as elephant, hippo, black rhino, wildebeest and lion. The crater’s existence as a natural enclosure means it boasts one of the densest populations of large mammals and lions across Africa. During your game drive, you’ll stop for a replenishing picnic while inside the crater.

Placing you right in the heart of the African bush, a walking safari enables you to soak up the evocative sights, sounds and smells of Africa on a much deeper level than a game drive, enabling you to come closer to species that would otherwise be spooked by the grumble of an approaching 4x4 safari vehicle.

After your walking safari, which will last for approximately 1hr 30 mins, you’ll return to the lodge for a delicious bush breakfast by the Grumeti River before spending time at leisure between breakfast and lunch.

In the afternoon, you can choose to relax at the lodge and enjoy its facilities or head back out into the reserve on a safari activity. As evening falls, you’ll sit down for an early dinner before departing for an exciting nighttime game drive, allowing you to glimpse some of the curious species which emerge after the sun has set.
