WestJet fly
direct from Glasgow to Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia on Canada’s eastern
coast. This compact and walkable city has
great restaurants and bars, perfect for a leisurely first evening on your
holiday.
Halifax
Take a day
to explore this historic city. Walk up
to the Halifax Citadel, a fortification that was first built in 1749 and is
today restored to the Victoria era. Wander along the Grand Parade and visit St. Paul’s Church, the oldest
Protestant church in Canada, before heading down to the picturesque waterfront, perhaps joining a whale watching tour.
Halifax to Montreal
Enjoy a
leisurely breakfast before making your way to the Via Rail station to embark on
your rail journey. The Ocean train
whisks travelers across the province of Nova Scotia, into New Brunswick and
onward to Quebec and the city of Montreal. The overnight journey takes about 21 hours and arrives into Montreal
at 9.15am. We recommend booking a
sleeper cabin, or you can upgrade to Sleeper Plus to enjoy access to the
Panoramic Car and complimentary meals in the dining car.
Montreal
Upon arrival
into Montreal drop your bags at your hotel ahead of check in, and start to
explore this refined city. In the heart
of French-speaking Canada you will find a Parisian elegance to Montreal,
contrasting with Halifax’s British heritage.
Montreal
Collect some
souvenirs of your time in Canada and enjoy Montreal’s unique shopping at the
same time. Visit the Underground City,
the largest underground complex in the world at nearly 5 square miles, or
search out arts and crafts in one of the city’s many independent boutiques.
Mont Tremblant & The Laurentians
Depart Montreal by coach at 8am and head north, out of the city, toward the stunning
Laurentians. The most famous destination
in this region is Mont Tremblant but there are so many other gems to discover. Pass thousands of glistening lakes and scenic
villages before boarding a cruise on the Lac des Sables (summer only). Visit the village of Saint Sauveur before
heading back to Montreal.
Montreal
Spend today
truly getting under the skin of the city on an intriguing walking tour. With your informative guide find out about
the famous landmarks of the city as well as some of the lesser-known streets
and neighbourhoods on this 3 hour tour.
