Day 1

Arrival into Santiago

Reception at Santiago’s airport and private transfer to the hotel. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 2

Santiago - Santiago city tour

This entertaining half day tour consists in visiting the main attractions of Santiago, the country’s most important cultural, cosmopolitan and artistic hub. We start out with a visit to the highpoints of the city’s civic center, such as Cerro Santa Lucia (a centrally located historic urban park), the La Moneda Palace (presidential offices) and the traditional Plaza de Armas square, a meeting place for Santiago’s diverse and multicultural expressions. Buildings of historical value can be found in the neighborhood, such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, National Museum of History and Central Post Office. We later walk through the Parque Forestal, a park running parallel to the Mapocho river with a variety of tree species offering a refreshing break from the urban agitation of the city’s center. We’ll visit the nearby Museo de Bellas Artes (National Museum of Fine Arts) and continue on to Barrio Bellavista, Santiago’s bohemian neighborhood, with some of the best bars and restaurants in the city. Return to hotel.

Day 3

Santiago - San Pedro de Atacama

Private transfer to Santiago airport for your flight to Calama on arrival transfer to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. All excursions are included during your stay and you choose which ones you would like to take on arrival.

Sample excursion:

We start our hike descending through a dune to enter this desert landscape, walking trough dried brooks and old river beds. We will pass through several lookouts to admire the area, until we come down to a big open space, which we cross to meet with the van near the old salt mines. It is said that the name “moon valley” comes from Father Le Paige, who named it for its white surface caused by the salt, which would resemble the face of the moon.

Day 4

Atacama excursions

Sample excursion:

We set off heading for the high planes, noticing changes in the flora and fauna as we go up. We make a stop at the Tropic of Capricorn, where we can see a segment of the Inca´s Trail. We keep going with direction Paso Sico, (Border crossing with Argentina) making stops at the Lagoons of Miscanti and Miñiques to enjoy the beautiful scenery, and if the weather and schedule permit, we carry on until we get to Aguas Calientes Salt flat and Tuyajto Lagoon. A delicious lunch awaits us in the town of Socaire on our way down.

Day 5

Atacama excursions

Sample excursion

We leave at dawn, heading northeast along a dirty road. Upon arriving at the Tatio Geyser, one of the highest geothermal fields in the world, we watch the cauldrons of boiling water shoot blasts of water vapour high into the air. We will explore the area briefly on foot and then enjoy breakfast. On our way back, we will enjoy gorgeous views of the high plateau. Along the way, you can see large bogs featuring plenty of wildlife, and appreciate how the flora and fauna changes as we make our way down. We also stop in the town of Machuca, situated 4.000 meters above sea level

Day 6

Atacama - Chilean Lake Distrct

Transfer back to Calama for your flight to the Chilean Lake District via Santiago. On arrival private transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 7

Chilean Lake District - Petrohue Falls & Osorno Volcano excursion

The tour starts out from the city of Puerto Varas bordering the Llanquihue Lake. On the way, visitors pass by the mouth of Rio Pescado as well as the villages of La Poza and Los Riscos, until they reach Ensenada, a small village from where the Osorno Volcano climb begins. During the escalation, several breaks will be made on the way to visit attractive sites before reaching the Ski y Montaña Volcan Osorno Center, located 1,240 meters above sea level (4,068 ft.). The trip continues on to Saltos del Río Petrohué to walk on the boardwalks and see how the river flows over large masses of crystallized lava, formed by the volcano’s eruptions. Lovely views can be admired of the river's beautiful turquoise-blue waters . The trip ends at Todos los Santos Lake. Return to Puerto Varas.

Day 8

Chilean Lake District

Free day in the Chilean Lake District. A popular day trip is to the nearby island of Chiloe. This isolated island was cut off from the main land for 300 years with the native population giving fierce resistance to the European colonists. The island there remained unchanged for a long time, and it is still one of the few places where you can palafitos, precarious but picturesque timber houses on stilts home to fisherman in the south of Chile.

Day 9

Chilean Lake District - Torres del Paine

Private transfer to Puerto Montt for your flight south to Patagonia. On arrival in Punta Arenas you are met and taken by shared transfer to your lodge (around 4-5 hours).

A wide range of excursions are included during your stay at the Patagonia Camp and you choose which ones you would like to take the evening before.

Day 10

Torres del Paine excursions

Sample excursion:

A deservedly famous and highly demanding excursion. After crossing the Ascensio River you will walk uphill around 2.5 km until reaching Pasos del Viento pass at about 480 meters above sea level (masl), with a beautiful panoramic view of the pampa, the lakes to the south and the Ascensio Valley itself. From there you will descend to the Refugio Chileno shelter. Up to that point vegetation is that of the pre-Andean scrubland bioclimate; from then on vegetation changes completely and as you climb you will penetrate the ancient lenga tree forests until you reach the Torres Glacier moraine at 600 masl. Once out of the forest a final push of around 45 minutes of continuous uphill climbing will take you to the Torres Base at 870 masl, where you will behold directly in front of you the three massive granite giants, the best reward to your efforts! Throughout the trek you will observe fauna such as condors, mora eagles, caranchos and other birds of prey.

Day 11

Torres del Paine excursions

Sample excursion:

An excursion that lets you discover three completely different environments: beginning at Guardería Grey (or entry) you cross a mature Lenga tree forest where you can observe forest birds such as Magellanic woodpeckers and cachañas. The hike continues along the beach at the far end of Lake Grey with views of the icebergs breaking away from Grey Glacier with their amazing blue colors and breathtaking shapes. Finally, upon reaching the peninsula you will find a spectacular view of Grey Glacier and surrounding area, a festival of colors to delight your senses.

Torres del Paine - Santiago

Shared transfer back to Punta Arenas for your flight to Santiago. Once in Santiago you are met and taken by private transfer to your hotel.
