Argos in Cappadocia

Ratings

A five-star hotel carved into the volcanic rock of Uçhisar, where centuries-old cave architecture, award winning fine dining, and the spectacle of Cappadocia's dawn balloon flights combine into one of Turkey's most extraordinary stays.

Argos in Cappadocia is a five-star hotel built within a restored historic mansion of carved stone and cave interiors in Uçhisar, overlooking Pigeon Valley and the grand Erciyes Mountain beyond. The property sits within a small village, its arch ceilings and stone walls shaped by the same volcanic landscape that has drawn travellers to this corner of Turkey for centuries. As one source puts it, it is 'built within a restored mansion with arch ceilings, carved stone walls, and timeless details that seem to hold centuries of memories' (Turkey1001).

Each morning, hot air balloons rise above the valley at first light. The terrace at Argos, dressed with Turkish carpets, cushions, and throws, is precisely where you want to be. 'And the best feature of this entire place is this little terrace,' noted The Buddymoon (Leanne & Dan) on YouTube. 'This is where you can stand to see the beautiful balloons in the sky in the morning.' It is a moment that defines the stay.

Argos describes itself as 'a sustainable hotel of refined details, deeply connected to the land, its history and its culture', a philosophy that runs through every element of the experience, from the 60 km sourcing radius in its kitchens to the wines poured from its own vineyard.

Why guests choose Argos in Cappadocia

  • The setting is singular. No other hotel in the region places you quite so directly inside the landscape. The cave interiors are not a theme; they are the building itself, shaped from Cappadocian volcanic rock and refined over centuries.
  • The dining is genuinely exceptional. Seki Lounge holds recognition from the MICHELIN Guide, the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, Gault & Millau Türkiye, and the World Luxury Awards. This is serious culinary territory, not merely a hotel restaurant.
  • The activity programme is broad and largely included. Hot air balloon experiences, horseback riding, hiking, yoga, seasonal picnics, and wine pairings from the cellar are all part of the stay. 'Do not hesitate to stay in Argos, everything was perfect!', guest review.

    Dining

Every kitchen at Argos works within a strict 60 km sourcing radius, drawing on seasonal ingredients from the surrounding Cappadocian landscape and fresh herbs from the hotel's own garden. The wines poured here come, in part, from the property's own vineyard. This is not a marketing claim; it is the operating philosophy of the entire food and drink programme.

  • Seki Restaurant and Seki Lounge sit at the heart of the property's culinary reputation. Overlooking Pigeon Valley, Tıraz Castle, and Erciyes Mountain, Seki Lounge is recognised by the MICHELIN Guide, the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, Gault & Millau Türkiye, and the World Luxury Awards. The gastronomic menu pairs dishes prepared with local ingredients with carefully selected wines from the cellar. Seki Restaurant serves the same inspired regional and international cooking indoors or al fresco, and the breakfast buffet here is highlighted by guests as a must-do experience. Vegan dishes are available.

  • Nahita and Nahita Cappadocia bring Anatolian fine dining to the fore, with a passionate commitment to the revival of traditional recipes using the finest local and seasonal ingredients. Signature cocktails are mixed with fresh herbs from the hotel garden. The cooking here is bold, rooted, and deeply connected to the region's culinary history.
  • Nahita Lounge operates exclusively during spring and summer, from 16:00 to 24:00, on an open terrace with panoramic views of the landscape and Mount Erciyes beyond. Signature cocktails and unique snacks make this the natural place to settle as the afternoon light changes.
  • Argos Cellar is the hotel's wine bar, drawing on the property's own vineyard vintages alongside a carefully chosen cellar selection. An exceptional setting for an evening of unhurried tasting. The breakfast included in your Bed & Breakfast rate covers a full spread with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, and dairy-free options, a practical reassurance for every guest at the table.

'Durmus provided exceptional service. He was incredibly professional and charming.', guest review. 'Ahmed was the best waiter ever. They all went the extra mile to make sure we are happy.', guest review.

Best at Travel tip: Reserve a table at Seki Lounge for your first evening. The light over Pigeon Valley at dusk, paired with a glass from the Argos cellar, sets the tone for everything that follows. Your consultant can arrange this before you travel.

    Room Types

    Standard Room

(27.5 sqm, double or twin bed): Far more than the name suggests. Stone and historic cave interiors give these rooms genuine warmth; some include a fireplace, and some have windows depending on availability. A strong entry point into the Argos experience.

    Deluxe Room

(25 sqm, extra-large double or twin beds, max 2): Comfortable and well-appointed, with a private bathroom, coffee machine, minibar, and free WiFi. A compact but considered room for those whose priority is the public spaces and landscape beyond.

    Junior Suite

(Landmark view): A suite with genuine architectural character, a fireplace, bathrobes, and a magical atmosphere shaped by the landmark views. The air conditioning, coffee and tea maker, and bath/shower complete a room that rewards guests who want both comfort and outlook.

    Suite

(55 sqm, garden view, extra-large double bed, max 2, terrace and balcony): The first room category with private outdoor space. At 55 sqm, with a balcony and terrace overlooking the garden, this is the natural choice for couples who want room to breathe and a private corner to enjoy the evening air.

    Grand Cave Splendid Suite

(160 sqm, cave interior, double bed): The most remarkable room on the property. A cavernous Cappadocian volcanic rock interior of 160 sqm, with a private pool, fireplace, living room, Nespresso machine, stereo system, and minibar. For a honeymoon, significant anniversary, or simply a stay you will never forget, this is the suite to book.

    Stone Room

(20 sqm, valley views, extra-large double or twin beds, max 2): The most authentic cave experience on the property, positioned near the spa area with valley views. The interiors have real character, and the fireplace adds warmth. It is worth knowing that natural light is limited by design, this is a genuine cave room, and guests who prioritise bright, airy spaces should look at the Junior Suite or Suite instead. For those who want an immersive Cappadocian experience above all else, the Stone Room delivers it completely.

    Family Room

Designed for families, with a fireplace, bathrobes, desk, highchairs available, and all the comfort amenities. A considered option for travelling with older children.
