Matemwe Attitude

The adults-only Matemwe Attitude is a scattering of 74 luxurious villas crafted from natural materials, offering spacious interiors drenched in sunlight plus private pools that sparkle under the tropical sun. Sheltered amongst lush greenery, this Swahili-inspired resort lies on the edge of a fine, white sandy beach leading to turquoise lagoon waters rich with coral and often traversed by traditional dhow boats. Beyond the shoreline, the outline of idyllic Mnemba Island beckons on the horizon, a constant reminder of the property’s desert island setting in the Indian Ocean. Two restaurants and three bars make up Matemwe Attitude’s culinary offering, with the cuisine focusing on freshly caught seafood and succulent barbecued dishes. The bars, meanwhile, provide laidback environments where you can soak up the atmosphere while nursing a thirst-quenching cocktail or other refreshing beverage. For leisure, you can while away the hours on the soft sandy beach, retreat to the spa for a rejuvenating massage, learn about Zanzibar’s flourishing spice trade during a chef-led cooking class or head to a number of nearby snorkelling spots – including some of the island’s best -  for the opportunity to swim amongst the Indian Ocean’s abundant marine life, which includes sea turtles, stingrays and more.
