When (or if) you can drag yourself away from the beaches, you’ll find there is plenty to do on Mahé and its nearby islands. We’re sure you’ll spend most – if not all – of your time outdoors, soaking up the sunshine as you hike through Morne Seychellois National Park, go horseback riding and full the buzz of zip lining. Want to take to the sea? There are plenty of opportunities for offshore boating excursions, incredible diving and the chance to snorkel with whale sharks.
The Seychelles, and in particular the island of Mahé, has an intriguing cultural mix that is reflective in its cuisine, with strong influences from France, China andAfrica. Sit down to traditional Creole menus and you’ll find dishes of lamb curry and grilled jack fresh, caught fresh that day. If staying on Mahé be sure to leave the restaurants and bars of your five star resort behind and head to the Victoria Market where exotic fruits and seafood are sold.
Spend any time on Mahé and the nearby islands and you’ll soon understand why its beaches are frequently ranked among the most beautiful in the world. Too many to count on one hand (or even two) all are blessed with white sands, palm trees and blue water – our favourites include Beau Vallon Bay and Anse Soliel. Away from the beach, take in the spectacular views from the top of Morne Blanc or visit the botanic garden on the outskirts of the capital, Victoria.
