After representing England at youth level
for high jump and playing semi-professional football, I decided to go into travel as
my mother has worked in travel for as long as I can remember. I've always loved other
cultures, so it just pulled me in.
I started at a local travel agency at 18, selling beautiful destinations and getting to visit some incredible places. I took two sabbaticals to experience other countries, and two amazing experiences through Asia really assured my passion for travel. Since then, I haven't looked back.
I’ve worked
in travel for 17 years.
I specialise in Southeast Asia, the Indian Ocean and the Middle East.
I’ve
always wanted to visit Uganda.
My job allows me to travel and see some incredible destinations and hotels. I get to view some stunning resorts to offer the right hotel for the right client. Helping clients create their dream holiday is lovely.
In Grenada,
jumping off the edge off a waterfall into the beautiful water below.
My first time in Cambodia. I was travelling for a while and went over to Cambodia from Thailand. I fell in love with the country, the people were amazing, the stunning beaches were not expected, just beautiful. So much history and culture. I ended up returning four times in four years.
It may be
repetitive but again: Cambodia! Especially the islands off Cambodia. Song Saa
and Koh Rong have incredible beaches. Truly breathtaking.
While
staying Pai in the north of Thailand, living in a tent on a rice paddy field
building an amazing wooden, open-air hostel. I absolutely loved it - working
with the locals, making friends and using my hands. There was incredible
weather while there, lightning and thunderstorms, plus hard graft in the heat,
then we stayed there once it was completed.
It used to
be an iPod, now it’s my iPhone. I always make sure I have my holiday playlist –
it’s been the same one since I was 17 years old.
Don’t always
stick to an itinerary. Take each day as it comes and visit places you wouldn’t
normally visit. The best places I visited have always been out of my comfort
zone or not the norm, these have always been my best memories.
Attempting to ride my motorbike in Laos in torrential rain, with
main visibility next to nothing. Scary times!
What’s your favourite destination?
There are two
destinations for different reasons, I love and have always loved Southeast
Asia, favourite place would be Cambodia. I had the best experience and some
incredible memories here. Cambodia is an extremely underrated destination, just
stunning in every way. As for family holidays, my best stays have always been the
Maldives. There’s so much choice nowadays and all ages are happy - my boy plays
on the beach and in the water non-stop.
What was your most recent work trip?
I visited
Doha back in October 2024. It was my first taste of Qatar and I loved it. They
have an amazing standard of service and some incredible dining. I highly
recommend Four Seasons and Marsa Malaz, my two favourites.
Do you have a favourite hotel?
My favourite
hotel - this is a tough one. It would have to be Song Saa for me. It’s a
private island on the Cambodian coast, Cambodia’s version of the Maldives.
