Travel Tips & Advice for Florida Keys

Florida Keys Activities

With its coral reef and coastal location, the Keys is one of the best places in Florida for water sports. Spend an afternoon snorkelling or scuba diving in between underwater sculptures and shipwrecks or have an animal encounter and go swimming with dolphins. If you prefer to be on the water, rather than under it, head to Islamorada for sport fishing.

Florida Keys Food & Drink

When in the Florida Keys, dining on the local seafood is a must. Try freshly caught oyster, mussels, clams and mahi-mahi . Don't forget to wash it down with a Hurricane cocktail or two. Key lime pie is a classic Florida dish, and you'll definitely want to get a slice in the Keys. The perfect combination of sweet and tart, this pie is made from Key limes, native to the islands.

Florida Keys Attractions

If you can bring yourself to do more than lie on the beach while in the Florida Keys, you'll enjoy soaking up the art and culture of the area. Visit the Hemingway Home, a registered national landmark that features guided tours, Key West's first swimming pool – and nearly 50 six-toed cats (said to be descendants of the one given to Ernest Hemingway). Walking around the Keys, keep your eyes peeled for local street art or take a neighbourhood art stroll in Islamorada and Key West..
