Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa
On the south-east coast of the Dominican Republic, the adults-only Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa delivers an undeniable wow-factor. The long lobby with its high ceilings, open-plan layout and views stretching towards the Caribbean Sea is an architectural standout, while the low-rise whitewash buildings have a Mediterranean feel to them. But the plenty of palm and coconut trees throughout the grounds and on the beach – obligatory hammocks strung up between many – ensure you never forget you’re in the Caribbean.
Our Senior Marketing & Content Executive Alyce, who stayed here over the summer. Just two nights here were enough for her to come back raving about the stunning location, wonderful staff and the incredible view from the infinity pool at the Preferred Club.
On the pure white sands of Juanillo Beach, Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa is set within an exclusive gated community in the Dominican Republic’s Punta Cana which is home to a marina, golf course and equestrian centre.
Chilled out couples escapes and romantic honeymoons with a sociable atmosphere – there are games of volleyball on the beach and a cocktail reception once a week.
What To Do & Where To Eat
Days beneath the sun-filled Caribbean sky are best spent either beside one of the swimming pools or beneath a palapa on the gorgeous stretch of beach where the well-spaced out loungers ensure it never feels crowded. Or if you’re feeling active there are non-motorised watersports including stand up paddle boarding and kayaking. Come the evening, the resort puts on theme nights and big screen movies on the beach. And while we love starting the day with mimosas, eggs made your way and steaming hot pancakes at breakfast, our pick of the seven restaurants is the teppanyaki-themed Himitsu for show-stopping dinners – it’s worth making a reservation for!
Our Favourite Room
Alyce checked into one of the Preferred Club Junior Suite Ocean View – and couldn’t recommend it enough! Incredibly spacious with oversized daybeds and spa tubs on the balcony – bath salts included and best enjoyed with a glass of champagne at sunset – as well as a huge double rain shower and bath products including sunscreen and insect repellent. The sliding door in the wardrobe for staff to drop off room service orders without entering was a nice touch.
Good To Know
Unlimited-Luxury® comes as standard here, with a la carte dining, premium alcoholic beverages and more all included at no extra charge. And if there’s one recommendation from the Best at Travel team, it’s to upgrade to Preferred Club for check-in and out at the lounge – sweet and savoury snacks available all day – as well as an exclusive section of the beach, a dedicated pool and dining at the Rosewater restaurant.
