Known as Trinidad’s little brother, Tobago offers one of the most singular escapes in the Caribbean. Despite its picture-perfect palm-lined beaches and brilliant blue waters, Tobago is unexpectedly wild with vast tropical rainforests and nature reserves, roaring waterfalls, vibrant coral reefs, old cocoa plantations and forested hills topped with 18th century ruins of Fort King George. Home to the oldest protected rainforest zone on earth, Tobago is a great birding destination with kingfishers and hummingbird flitting through the air. It’s also a great destination for swimming and cycling with hiking trails meandering through dramatic scenery. Regular events include festivals as well as goat and crab racing events.
