Holidays to Fethiye
Situated on Turkey’s aptly named Turquoise Coast in the country’s South West, Fethiye is a delight, playing host to a peppering of boutique beach resorts, ancient ruins and easy access to the handful of nearby islands. Your time in and around Fethiye will likely focus on the picturesque wonders of this irresistible coastline, where jagged tree-lined hills drop dramatically down to the ocean shoreline below, revealing white sand beaches before disappearing into cobalt blue seas beyond. Although the port city of Fethiye is a popular mooring spot for luxury yachts which, in turn, has given rise to a fine selection of chic restaurants and boutique Turkish hotels, life in ancient times can also be glimpsed on day trips. There are archaeological ruins including the 2,500-year-old Tomb of Amyntas and 4,000-year-old Tlos, as well as the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Xanthos Amphitheatre and Letoön, among others. What’s more, your time on the Turquoise Coast will, naturally, include days spent relaxing on one of its many beaches, admiring the scenery, or taking to the open ocean on an island-hopping cruise; returning just in time for sunset and a gourmet meal of freshly caught seafood, no doubt.
