Skip the main route and travel through Namibia's exciting highlights on this two week tailor-made road trip. Drive off-road along the quiet dunes of the Namib, travel along Namibia's coast to Swakopmund and watch for four of the Big Five in Etosha National Park. You'll also get to admire ancient Bushman rock art in the Damaraland and visit one of the last truly nomadic tribes on earth...Windhoek
After arrival at the international airport, pick up your hire car and travel through mountainous terrain to Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. Your accommodation is situated in a quiet suburb and close to the city centre with its afro-European flair and peaceful atmosphere. In the evening enjoy typical Namibian cuisine in one of the numerous restaurants in the city.

Windhoek - Namib Desert - 350km drive
Your journey starts by traveling south into the heart of the Namib Desert, the world's largest desert with stunning landscapes and majestic dunes.
Arrive at your lodge near the entrance to Sesriem and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Enjoy a late afternoon walk or take part in optional activities such as nature/dune drives offered by your lodge.

Namib Desert Lodge - Sossusvlei - 150km drive
This day calls for an early rise so you can catch the stunning sunrise over the mighty dunes of the Namib Desert. Explore Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei, a surreal white salt pan surrounded by monumental dunes and dotted with ancient camelthorns.
On your way back, visit the Sesriem Canyon, an 18 million year old gorge before returning to your lodge to relax poolside. An optional guided walk is available in the afternoon.

Sossusvlei - Namib Nukluft National Park - 200km drive
After enjoying breakfast amidst the spectacular scenery of the Namib, depart via Namib Naukluft Park to your next lodge near the Kuiseb and Gaub Canyons.
Here you have the opportunity to explore various walking trails that have been created to experience and enjoy the stillness of the Namib Desert. Various species of birds and wildlife can be observed here. A variety of hiking trails are available depending on length and perseverance. A map indicating the routes are available at the reception of the lodge as well as a guide book and GPS on request.

Namib Nukluft National Park - Swakopmund - 200km drive
The onward trip to Swakopmund is done on a gravel road, which leads through two fascinating canyons into another section of Namib Naukluft National Park. Here, you can find abandoned mines and a variety of game species around the Zebra Pans. Soon you will reach a point where the ephemeral Kuiseb River acts as a natural boundary between the Namib Dune belt (Namibia’s second World Heritage Site) and the gravel plains of the Namib Desert.
Explore the area on foot before travelling to the coast to Swakopmund for two nights. The rest of the day is spent at leisure.

Swakopmund - Erongo Region - 200km drive
Departing Swakopmund, travel east towards the picturesque Erongo Mountain Range. Traveling past the Spitzkoppe mountain range, you have the option of visiting a "Living Museum" village of the San.
Experience the magical sunset around a fireplace and marvel at the African sky whilst sipping your favourite Namibian sundowner. Many rare, endemic and special species of animal, bird, and plant life thrive here, making this one of Namibia’s most diverse areas.
This wealth of natural and cultural history can be enjoyed by joining a guided nature drive, visiting one of the Bushman rock art sites, or walking among the mountains with one of our guides - or simply just soaking up the atmosphere from your private deck.

Erongo Region - Damaraland
After breakfast you continue into the Damaraland where you visit Twyfelfontein, a World Heritage Site and an “open air art gallery” that boasts over 2,500 different Bushman rock engravings and paintings.
Your journey continues to the foothills of the Grootberg massif where the ancient basalt has slowly eroded over millennia, leaving scattered boulders on dramatic flat-topped mountains. Keep an eye out for desert-adapted wildlife amongst the towering basalt mountains and Mopani-shaded rivers beds of the Kunene region.

Damaraland - Etosha National Park - 400km drive
After breakfast you can visit a traditional Himba village near the town of Kamanjab and meet these proud people.
The Himba still adhere to their traditional values and cultures and are one of the last truly nomadic tribes on earth. Travel further towards the Etosha National Park, where you will overnight for the following three nights. Time permitting, go on your first nature drive in Etosha National Park.

Etosha National Park
Entering Etosha National Park in the early morning, your time will be devoted purely to game viewing. The park surrounds a parched salt desert known as the Etosha Pan, and is home to 4 of the Big Five - elephant, lion, leopard and rhino.
The park’s waterholes support a diversity of mammals and birds, including species such as black-faced impala, cheetah, and Namibia’s smallest antelope, the Damara dik-dik.

Etosha National Park
You have the entire day available for game viewing experiences. No game drive here is the same; all waterholes hold new surprises and attract different animal species that you may not have seen on previous game drives.

Etosha National Park - Windhoek International Airport - 400km drive
After breakfast, depart your lodge and travel south towards Windhoek. After strolling through one of the large craft markets in Okahandja, your route takes you between high mountain ranges back to the capital city, Windhoek, where your tour ends.
