Hoshinoya Fuji manages to seamlessly deliver Japanese minimalist design in a pristine landscape of fragrant woodland, a clutch of white cabins and raised platforms peeking out from between the trees to look out over Lake Kawaguchi towards mighty Mount Fuji. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by the friendly Glamping Masters, who are at your beck and call to help make your stay everything you wish for. Ask them which hiking routes to take, have them organise a horse riding expedition, or listen as they point out constellations on a star-gazing trek. Between forays into the forest or lake, put your feet up in the Cloud Terrace and cosy up by the wood-burning stove, a cup of steaming tea or coffee in hand and perhaps a s’more or two roasting over the firepit. When it comes to mealtimes, fill up in either the open-air kitchen elegant dining room; for something more intimate, you can also request your meal be delivered to the privacy of your own cabin terrace, with the views stretching out before you for company.

Dining
The main BBQ/grill restaurant cranks up the glamping credentials, with prime cuts and homemade specialities cooked up in front of your eyes courtesy of an open-air cooking station in the heart of the space. If looking to dine under the stars – and for something a little different – the al fresco Cloud Terrace can be booked with an accompanying private chef, making for a truly memorable experience eating among the trees, as well as in-cabin dining options. Food is typically fresh with an international twist, European influences and dishes well suited to being cooked to perfection on the park’s all-important chargrill.
