Start your holiday inBrazil with a visit to the Pantanal wetlands, one of the best destinations inSouth America for spotting wildlife. Keep an eye out for giant river otters, capybara, caiman, a wide variety of birdlife, and if you are extremely lucky, an elusive jaguar. From the Pantanal, fly onwards to the exclusive Cristalino Lodge in Brazil's Southern Amazon. A highlight of any stay at Cristalino Lodge is climbing one of their two 50m canopy towers to watch the sunrise. After a spectacular stay in the Amazon Jungle, continue to marvellous city of Rio de Janeiro where you will have the chance to visit the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue and Sugarloaf Mountain. End your trip with a couple of relaxing nights at the quaint colonial town of Paraty on Brazil's Emerald coast.

Arrival into Sao Paulo, then connect for your onward flight to Cuiaba. 


Once you arrive in Cuiaba you are met and taken by private transfer to your city hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Collection from your hotel, then a shared transfer to Pousada do Rio Mutum passing through the small village of Mimoso, where Mal Candido Rondon was born. The journey to the lodge takes around 3 and half hours, however the transfer feels like an excursion in itself as you stop enroute to observe many kinds of birds and small mammals  After check-in, introduction of the lodge and area around it. In the evening, a great piranha soup will be served just before dinner. After dinner, introduction to the activities of the following days.

Below is a sample itinerary of a typical stay at the Rio Mutum Lodge.

After breakfast, horseback trail riding through the savannah and forest, up to the edge of the Siá Mariana bay. During the whole year, a big variety of birds, animals and reptiles can be observed. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, boat ride for a photographic safari on the pristine Mutum River, where it is possible to see giant otters, stingrays and huge schools of small fish. At the Mutum riverbanks, a large variety of birds can be observed. Return to the lodge for dinner, then nocturnal animal spotting by jeep in the lodge surrounding area.

After breakfast, ecological walk through the jungle and open fields to observe the wildlife. Undeniably, Pantanal is one of the world's best hot spots for birdwatching. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, boat trip down the Mutum river banks, Siá Mariana bay and Chacororé bay. Return by boat to the lodge, stopping to see the sunset at the Siá Mariana bay and do piranha fishing*. In the evening, caiman feeding with the piranhas fished from Siá Mariana bay and nocturnal animal spotting. Dinner and overnight.


*Fishing is prohibited by law between October and March.

An early start for canoeing on the Mutum river to observe the sunrise and the beauty of wildlife at the break of dawn in the Pantanal. Return to the lodge, breakfast and check-out. Transfer to the Cuiabá airport to take your flight to Alta Floresta. Arrival in Alta Floresta, reception at the airport and transfer to Cristalino lodge.

Early wake up to observe the awakening of the forest in our 50 m canopy tower. If you are up early enough then there is a chance to see the sun rising from the top of the canopy towers. After breakfast take a motorboat up river and walk the Brazil nut trail. Afterwards float down the river with the engines off spotting wildlife on the banks of the river. Before lunch relax on the lodges floating deck.  

After lunch an opportunity to choose between walking the "Rocky" trail to the Tree House, or participate in supervised ropes and rappel activities (including a course). Dinner by campfire. In the evening night caiman spotting by the floating deck or in motor boats. Observation of nocturnal life of the forest.

Before breakfast climb one of the two 50m canopy towers, for a stunning view of the forest and also allowing for great photos and the chance to see many different species of birds. After breakfast walk the Caja Trail, followed by the chance for a refreshing swim in the river before lunch. In the afternoon, hike the Serra trail, and watch the sunset across the forest. In the evening enjoy more of the excellent food served up the lodges chef.

Breakfast at the lodge before your boat and road transfer back to Alta Floresta. Lunch at the Floresta Amazonica hotel before transferring to the airport.

The tour starts with a visit to the Tijuca’s Forest which is an ecological preserve of Atlantic rainforest and is the biggest urban forest in the world. After your visit to the National Park you will continue to the Christ Redeemer Statue, one of the 7 Wonders of the World. The Christ Redeemer has one of the most beautiful panoramas of the city, and is a must visit on any trip to Rio. From the feet of the Statue, you can see the South Zone with the Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and the Botanic Garden. At the D.Marta Turret, the attraction is part of the North Zone with Maracanã and the Guanabara Bay with the Rio-Niterói Bridge, the Sugar Loaf, Marina of Glory and Niterói.

After lunch, you continue the jeep ride with a visit to the Sugar Loaf Mountain. You take the two cable cars up to the top of the mountain which gives you another magnificent view of Rio. To finish the tour through beautiful Rio, you’ll visit the Botanic Garden, created by D.João VI in 1817 to serve as a cultivation center of exotic plants. At the end of the tour return to your hotel.
