Since the InterContinental New York Barclay first opened its doors to guests in 1926, this luxurious hotel in the heart of New York city has been the hotel of choice for those looking for respite in the Big Apple. This hotel literally steeped in history having previously welcomed Presidents from Harry S Truman and John F Kennedy, to having played headquarters for Bill Clinton’s campaign back in 1996. Originally built as part of an expansion for Grand Central Station, the InterContinental New York Barclay became one of only four notable railroad hotels for those travelling to New York City. Its location permitted it to have its own station platform in the basement of the hotel, although this is not the case today. Today the InterContinental New York Barclay is once again a beacon of luxury. Having closed its doors to guests for a full renovation, they once again reopened in the spring of 2016 to welcome in a new era of first-class hospitality and write its next chapter in the history books.
