High on our list are the Mission Santa Barbara, a Franciscan monastery founded in 1786 and Lotusland, a 37-acre private estate with stunning gardens filled with lakes, orchards and fountains. If you’re looking for free, the Sunken Garden has outdoor movie screenings in summer, there’s free admission to the Santa Barbara Museum of Art on Thursday evenings and Butterfly Beach is open to all, year-round.
