Along South-Central Vietnam’s tropical coastline, Nha Trang and Cam Ranh Bay allure travellers with their pristine shores, clear blue waters and compelling local culture.
Nha Trang is a vibrant city on the sea where glinting high-rise buildings meet sweeping golden sands and one of Vietnam’s most beautiful bays. A place where the modern world contrasts with ancient culture, Nha Trang was once known as Kauthara when it was under the dominion of the Kingdom of Champa, relics of which lie littered across the surrounding area. These include the famous Po Nagar temple complex, which features exquisite examples of ancient Hindu architecture.
South of Nha Trang lies Cam Ranh Bay, an area characterised by deep blue waters and fascinating naval history. Here, picturesque beaches such as Bai Ngoc and Bai Dai are a far cry from the bustling crowds of Vietnam’s other seaside destinations, with Cam Ranh Bay and its surrounds gradually securing a spot on peoples’ travel radars. Offshore, the shimmering waters of the South China Sea lie scarred with coral reefs that brim with marine life, while the interior landscape and coastal fringes boast flourishing biodiversity and excellent opportunities for birdwatching.
